Each color by word puzzle features 4 to 5 CVC words for a vowel family in two difficulty levels for 10 puzzles total. I've included both a picture clue set and a word clue set. In the picture clue set, students look at the picture of the word and then find the corresponding word to color. In the word clue set, students have the CVC word to look at and find the matching word to color in the puzzle. No prep! Just print and go.

Students can practice letter and number recognition by matching capital and lowercase letters, matching numbers and number words up to 20, as well as matching numbers and pictures up to 10.

How to Play

Where's the Present? is a game for centers or whole group instruction where a present is hidden behind a Christmas tree. A poem is chanted where the student(s) must say the letter they think the present is behind. Once guessed, the letter is removed. If the present is behind the tree, then the present must be hidden again to play further. If the present is not behind the tree, then the poem is chanted again with a new letter. This game has letters in both capital and lowercase forms.

Decorate the Tree!

1. Give each student one Christmas Tree mat.

2. Shuffle the shape cards and place them face down in the middle of the students.

3. The first student will draw a card and place that many of the particular shape on their tree. If the “Give a gift” card is drawn, then if the student has enough shapes on their tree, then they are to give one to each of the other players.

4. When all the cards are gone, the game is done.
