Practice FRY'S SIGHT WORDS in a way that is REPETITIVE, yet MOTIVATING for students who struggle! Efficiently COLLECT DATA on which HIGH-FREQUENCY WORDS students know receptively!

This deck includes the THIRD TEN OF FRY'S INSTANT WORDS:

This deck of 50 CARDS will allow students to be successful in recognizing the THIRD TEN of Fry's FIRST HUNDRED Instant Words.

CLEAR AUDIO on each card will say the word. Students will SELECT the correct word from a SET OF THREE to move on to the next card.

Cards will be shuffled when assigned to students through a hyperlink or fast pin. When played from the teacher dashboard, cards are NOT shuffled.

I use this deck as a WARM-UP in our virtual environment. By placing a link in the chat or embedding the cards into our Pear Deck, students can practice for a few minutes at the beginning of each class.

DATA will show if students are improving or have mastered their RECEPTIVE RECOGNITION of the words. The next step would be to assess whether the student can recall the word from memory.

ABOUT THIS PRODUCT

This deck has 15 cards where students match rhyming words. Each card has a picture in the spaceship. Students will find the rhyming picture in the stars and drag and drop the rhyming word. Once they drag/drop the star, they will click submit to check their answer. It will self-check and let the students know if they have the correct answer or not.

BOOM CARDS™ are interactive task cards played on a website called Boom Learning. You must be connected to the internet to play and can play on the internet browser or on the app. To play the game you must have a free or paid account. Once you have an account, you can generate a link for your students. When you purchase this product you will download a PDF with a link inside that will take you to the game. You will be prompted to sign in or create an account. You can add this game to your personal library.

This Match-Select-Name reading unit is based on a reading intervention method developed by Patricia Oelwein. There has been a significant amount of research done on the efficacy of this method. It is shown to be beneficial for students with exceptionalities including Down’s Syndrome and Autism Spectrum Disorder who are struggling to learn to read using phonics.

There are four stages in the method:

1 - Acquisition (Matching, Selecting, Naming)

2 - Fluency (Practice and Review)

3 - Transfer (Use of new fonts and coloured paper)

4 - Generalization (Ability to read the words in any context/format)

The resources included in this unit cover the acquisition stage for the 24 words in the set and provides resources to support the fluency stage of this method. The level of the words used in the document is predominantly at the Pre-Primer and Primer level of Dolch Sight Words.
