Common Core Math Activities For Kindergarten
By Bright Classroom Ideas Marketplace
During Kindergarten, the main focus of instructional time should be on two important areas: (1) comparing and representing whole numbers using sets of objects; (2) explaining shapes and space. Kindergarten should focus more on teaching numbers than other subjects with additional learning time.
Students utilize numbers, including written numerals, to symbolize amounts and address quantitative issues, like tallying objects in a group; tallying out a specified amount of objects; contrasting sets or numerals; and simulating basic combining and separating scenarios with sets of objects, or later on with equations like 5 + 2 = 7 and 7 - 2 = 5. Kindergarten students can be shown addition and subtraction equations, and it is recommended that they practice writing equations, although it is not mandatory. Students select, merge, and utilize efficient methods for solving mathematical problems, such as promptly identifying the quantities of small groups of items, counting and generating sets of specific sizes, totaling objects in merged sets, or determining the remaining objects in a set after some are removed.

Primer Sight Words Sentences Booklet - 52 words
By Sign with me TOD
As students are learning the 52 primer sight words in this product, they will be provided with each word, an example of the word used in a sentence, and the opportunity to make up a sentence themselves using the word. I find that with my students who are Deaf/hard of hearing/ELL, when they make up sentences using the newly learned sight word, it helps them to remember how to spell the word, the meaning, and how it is used. My students love booklets of any kind that they can refer back to. Once they have come up with their sentences, they can include pictures that they print and cut out, draw pictures freehand, or find pictures in a magazine that they can add to each page of the pre-primer sight word booklet that matches each sentence they come up with. This gives students the opportunity to connect what they are learning about in the classroom with their own personal interests. This booklet is perfect for students that are on grade level as well as students who require instructional information to be adapted.
