This resource includes cards to help children build sentences, it includes cards that describe ‘who to’, ‘who with’, ‘how’, ‘what like’, and ‘when’.

Why do you need this?

Colorful Semantics uses color coded cards to help children to learn the important elements of a sentence and how to join them together in the correct order. By visually representing each part of the sentence with a specific color, learners can better understand the structure and meaning of sentences, as well as the relationships between words.

This approach is often implemented through a variety of interactive and hands-on activities, such as sentence building games, storytelling, and picture-based exercises. Make writing fun with Zoo Adventure Roll a Story! Students roll a dice to determine the character, problem, and setting of their story, all with a zoo-themed twist!

Contents:
This Zoo Adventure Roll a Story activity includes everything students need to create their own zoo-themed tales:

• 6 different characters, such as a zookeeper, monkey, or visitor.
• 6 story problems, like getting lost in the zoo or dealing with an animal illness.
• 6 different settings, including the zoo, an aquarium, and more.

Students will roll a dice three times—once for each story element (character, problem, and setting)—then use the results to craft their story. After rolling, students can use one of the included lined writing sheets to plan and write their zoo adventure.

How the Product is Used:
Students will start by rolling a dice three times, each roll determining a key part of their story. The first roll assigns the character, the second roll assigns the problem, and the third roll assigns the setting. 4. You can choose to bring double sided or single sided but I prefer single sided for the little ones (you can always take out the page if they make a mistake…harder to do if they also filled out the entire other side…fewer tears for me, the better!)

5. Staple into booklets. I stapled along the binder spirals so they looked more authentic

1. You can print one image per page and make the books bigger

Who can use this resource:

I used this resource with my Grade 1 and 2 students at the end of the year to celebrate our accomplishments and to create a book of our favourite memories. Students loved brainstorming ideas for the various pages. It's amazing what they remember and appreciate from the past ten months of school.

Students will learn about the needs of all living things when you show them and discuss our mini-poster. Then they will complete a living and nonliving sort. There are 12 beautiful photographs of animals, 12 of different types of plants, and 12 of non-living things. Each photograph has the name of the object printed underneath it. These can be laminated and cut out so that students can sort them under the labels living and non-living (also included). This can be done with the whole group, in small groups or at centers. If this is done at centers putting 6 pictures from each category out allows for the center to be done twice.

There are 2 follow-up worksheets at slightly different levels, so you can choose what is best for your individual students' needs.
