The perfect writing assignment for the month of December or any month of the year! This holiday informational/explanatory writing assignment gives students the opportunity to learn about different holidays around the world. Students will be assigned or choose a holiday to research and then write their own informative essay. There are two pages giving different holidays to research, but you can also write your own holidays in if you would like. Students can use the graphic organizer to help organize their ideas before writing their explanatory essay. 2. Research Questions: A sheet of questions to guide students to delve deeper into the historical and cultural significance of the celebrations.

4. Essay Writing Paper & Drawing Page: 2 different lined writing paper are included for students to write their essays. This paper features a holiday-themed border to inspire creativity and festive spirit. One writing paper has a small space for students to create their own drawing. A drawing page is included for students to depict their holiday by drawing a favorite tradition or event of their holiday.
5. Partner Venn Diagram Page: An optional activity where students get with a partner and share what they learned about their holiday. They will fill out the Venn diagram comparing their holidays.

Make learning about Mardi Gras interesting with this no-prep Mardi Gras digital escape game.  The game includes access to a website where your students will hunt for the keys to unlock a set of locks.  Students will need to read the clues very carefully and watch videos, visit websites, and read texts to find the information they need to win the game.  Very easy to use - just send your students to the website and let them work!  Students can play individually or in teams. 

Mardi Gras is here! Your friend has sent you some beads, but you can't open the box they're in without figuring out the codes to the locks. Learn about Mardi Gras and open the box to get your prize in this Mardi Gras digital escape game. This is a challenging activity that students will need to work together and think critically in order to complete. All readings are in English

Digital escape games are a fun way to start a unit, or to review at the end of a unit.  They can also be used to learn about a cultural or historical event.  This game will have your students reading carefully and paying attention to the smallest details in order to complete the challenge and unlock the locks.

Tired of the same Spanish Christmas Projects and looking for something a little more inclusive? Most of your students are probably already pretty familiar with how we celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, New Years, and Valentine's Day in the United States. But have they ever heard of Fiesta de la Candelaria, Constitution Day, Día de Las Velitas, Carnaval, or dozens of other holidays celebrated throughout the Spanish-speaking world from December through February?

This flexible project is a great way to expose your students to a wide variety of cultural traditions and practices in a short amount of time with minimal effort on your part!

Each student will pick a Spanish-speaking country from a set of preprinted cards, select 2 winter holidays to research, and create a slide presentation to teach the rest of the class what they have learned. Optional graphic organizers are perfect for diverse learners and guided notes keep students engaged and learning during presentations!

Are you looking for a fun way to introduce or review winter vocabulary in Spanish with your students? Look no further! Included in this PowerPoint are 30 terms represented on 32 slides (with a title page, a teacher tips page, and terms of use). The terms represented include:

• weather (snow, it's cold, snowball)
• winter activities (snowboarding, skiing, snowman)
• winter clothing (coat, scarf, mittens)
• other related terms (hot chocolate, polar bear, fireplace)

Each slide is animated so that the picture appears first, followed by the Spanish term, and finally the English term.

**Please note that the pictures are covered by white boxes that are animated to disappear when in presentation mode. When viewing the presentation in any mode other than “presentation mode”, it looks like there aren’t any pictures.**

My students really enjoy when we use this as a review with whiteboards. Make sure to check out the preview for a complete list of terms. Please note that the terms in the presentation are NOT editable, although slides may be deleted or rearranged.
