Students will learn about electricity and how we are reminded how important it is when the power is off. Students will review the kinds of electricity that is used at home, the particles of matter and how they carry a positive or a negative electric charge. Students will learn how the flow of charged particles is an electric current, how the electric currents flow through a path called an electric circuit, how electric currents can only flow through circuits that are complete, and how electric currents wont flow through incomplete circuits. Students will also learn that when a lamp is unplugged, there is a gap in the circuit and the only way to complete the circuit is to plug the electrical cord into an outlet. Students will learn the different forms of energy - heat, sound, light, mechanical, and chemical. They will learn that electrical energy can change into the other forms of energy except for chemical energy. Examples of each change will be provided between the different forms of energy will be provided. Students will then learn how electrical signals are found in the body - the heart and the brain and what they do, they will also learn how these organs get electrical energy, and students will also learn about how electrical currents from outside of the body are very dangerous and what they should do to avoid these dangers. Throughout the product, students will be asked comprehension questions that include short answer and multiple choice to ensure comprehension.
