Place value is so important for a good mathematical foundation. Do your Lower Elementary students get enough practice with the Golden Bead material? Do they have a hard time moving from a concrete understanding of numbers to the more abstract written form? Save yourself some time and aggravation with these printable booklets. Each booklet increases in difficulty and can be used alongside the Montessori Golden Beads (or Base Ten Blocks) to build better number sense and help students make the connection between the beads and place value.

**This product has been updated and may vary slightly from what you see in the photos. See the PREVIEWS to know exactly what you will get.**

This bundle includes the large and small versions of the booklets. Both booklets have the same problems, but the large version has more scaffolding for beginners and the small version is appropriate for more advanced learners.

You can sample (for free!) the first booklet in this version and in the smaller version to see if they will work for you.

Here are some reasons this resource will make things easier for you in the classroom:

1. The booklets are super easy to make and instructions are included.
2. You get 12 large booklets and 12 small booklets (of increasing difficulty) . They start with teaching the unit beads and end with numbers into the thousands.
3. The booklets have two different formats for teacher convenience: 1) Suitable for printing class sets of booklets and 2) Suitable for printing individual sets of booklets for a few students.
4. The booklets also have colourful ANSWER KEYS so children can check their own work.

Looking for ways to give your Lower Elementary students lots of practice with big operations using the Montessori Stamp Game? Children will practice matching number and quantity by using their classroom Stamp Game to solve the 4-digit addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division problem that's on the front of the command card (in Montessori place value colors!). The answer to the problem is represented visually on the back of the card with the Stamp Game stamps, which means elf-correction is a breeze! With these printable notation cards your students will practice reading and translating numbers in expanded, standard, and word form, as well as in Golden Bead (Base Ten Blocks) form. They can read one side, translate the number by making it with the Montessori math materials or by writing it down, then they would check the back of the card to see if they were right. They can also work in the other direction by starting on the opposite side of the card.

It’s best to introduce subtraction with regrouping using concrete manipulatives related to place value such as base 10 blocks. Using base 10 blocks is an effective way to support students in developing a conceptual understanding of subtraction because they are able to see the value of each digit in the number. This visual model helps students understand the regrouping process of exchanging 1 ten for 10 ones or 1 hundred for 10 tens.

The slides are designed for students to simultaneously model subtraction equations with base 10 blocks and the standard algorithm. Building a correlation between the equation and the physical model will help students build a strong foundation for subtraction as they move on to more advanced skills.
