Apple Theme Activities | Literacy Center | Math Center | (Bundle) Fall Learning

By Morgan Jeffries

Fall is one of my favorite times of the year! I love all the changing colors as the leaves begin to change and the changing weather as well. My goal during this time of the year is to bring some of that fall change into my classroom as well. One theme that I am able to do that with is the apple theme. There are SO many fun hands on learning activities that you can do with young learners that go with this theme. One of my student's favorite activities is always the apple tasting and graphing one!

In this bundle I have created multiple different apple themed learning activities to go with different centers including writing center, math center, literacy center and more. Below is a list of what's included in this bundle.

- Complete The Pattern (#113 different colorful apple patterns ranging from simple to more complex)

- Count & Match File Folder Game (Numbers 1-10)

- Alphabet Play-doh Mats (Uppercase & lowercase Letters Aa-Zz)

- Number Play-doh Mats With Ten Frames

- Trace It, Color It, Write It Alphabet Book - Writing Center

- Alphabet Letter & Number Tracing Cards - Writing Center

- Matching Game ( Shapes - Letters - Numbers)

More Information On Each Item:

The Alphabet Play-doh Mats have both Uppercase and lowercase Letters. This activity is great for not only hands on learning through play but also to help your students practice forming each letter of the alphabet. Each play-doh mat also has a picture of an item that starts with that letter.

The Number Play-doh mats also have ten frames on them. This helps your students practice counting and on-to-one correspondence.

The file folder game has #2 pages of apple baskets with numbers 1-10 on them that you will attach to a file folder. There are also counting cards with different numbers of apples on them for your students to count the amount of apples and match it to the corresponding number.

There are #113 different apple patterns ranging from simple to more complex for your students to identify and create. There are #6 different apple colors that are included in these patterns. This activity is perfect to include during rotations and center times. I would laminate the pattern pages as well as the apple pieces for better durability.

The Alphabet book is great for your literacy center and writing practice. Each page has both the Uppercase and lowercase letter on it. The students color, trace and then practice writing each Uppercase and lowercase letter of the alphabet.

The Matching Game has Uppercase and lowercase letter matching practice as well as number and shape cards. The number cards have a matching card with the corresponding number of apple seeds on each one. This helps students practice counting and one-to-one correspondence.

The letter tracing cards are also another great way for your students to practice writing each Uppercase and lowercase letter as well as numbers 1-10.

I hope you and your students love these products as much as I loved creating them!

Introduction to Abacus, Adding Number 0-4

By Lynette Yung

In the activity, the pre-k and kindergarten students focus on adding numbers 0–4 with the abacus.

This activity helps with number sense and solidifies the number relationships. Students will be able to visualize adding numbers; they will also see items becoming more. This also introduces students to decomposing numbers. This resource also has fun activities, like a game of who wins, color by number, puzzles, and a maze

In this activity, we are adding from numbers 0-4. This is contained in one column of the abacus and all the bottom beads. Abacus is easy to understand; it promotes tactile learning.

The abacus used has 1 bead on top and 4 beads on the bottom. This activity focuses on the top bead (has a value of 5) and the bottom beads (has a value of 1 for each bead).

All the bottom beads have a value of 1, and the top bead has a value of 5.

Montessori Math Teen Numbers Booklets 11-19, Bead Stair Activities, Numeration

By Jessica Renee Montessori - JRMontessori

The teen numbers can be tricky, but the Montessori Math approach can help! If you love the Montessori Teen Boards you’ll also love these math booklets as a fun extension activity. Students will get a lot of practice making and comparing teen numbers with these 8 easy to prep booklets. Classroom teachers can make a whole class set in no time, and homeschoolers, there’s a special version for you so you only have to make one copy of each booklet.

Each booklet increases in difficulty and can be used with the Teen Boards and the Montessori Bead Stair to introduce and reinforce numbers 11–19. Note that number 10 is addressed in the Golden Bead Booklets and 0–9 are introduced in the Colored Bead Stair Booklets.

What’s included:

  • 1 PDF with teacher information (preparation and basic presentation suggestions) to help you get this lesson up and running as soon as possible
  • 2 PDFs with the homeschool-friendly version of the 8 booklets (you only have to print each booklet once)
  • 2 PDFs with full-color answer keys so your children can check their work independently
  • 8 PDFs with the classroom version of the 8 booklets (you can print 4 copies of a booklet at once making it easier to prep class sets)

Your students will so love making their booklets (compared to doing worksheets) that they won’t even realize how much they’re learning. Of course you, as their teacher, will be overjoyed when they finally stop inverting the digits in the teen numbers and when they grasp the idea that the teens are just a ten with some units!

TEACHERS LIKE YOU SAID…

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Dominique B. says, “Simple to prepare, and was a great follow-up activity for the kids!”

Apple Themed Math Activities - Math Center - Fall Activities (Bundle)

By Morgan Jeffries

Fall is such a fun time of the year and the Apple Theme is one of my favorites during this season! There are SO many fun activities you can do with young learners to go with the this theme. This bundle has a few different activities that are both hands on and fun. Below is a list of what math activities are included in this bundle.

Complete The Pattern Activity:

There are #113 different apple patterns ranging from simple to more complex for your students to identify and create. There are #6 different apple colors that are included in these patterns. This activity is perfect to include during rotations and center times. I would laminate the pattern pages as well as the apple pieces for better durability.

Play-doh Mats & Ten Frames:

Who doesn't love play-doh?? And what better way is there than incorporating early math concepts and counting into some play-doh fun. These play-doh mats have both numbers that your students can practice identifying and forming with play-doh as well as ten frames for them to practice one-to-one correspondence and counting. I promise this activity will not disappoint! The play-doh mats include numbers 1-10.

Count & Match File Folder Game:

File folder games are so convenient and easy to put together for your student's independent activities. This file folder game has #2 pages of apple baskets with numbers 1-10 on them that you will attach to a file folder. There are also counting cards with different numbers of apples on them for your students to count the amount of apples and match it to the corresponding number.

Apple Counting Book | Mini Readers:

There is #2 pages of colorful apples as well as black and white apples. You can have your student’s practice holding scissors and cut the apples out or if they are not ready for that step you can cut them out yourself as well. Once the apples are cut out they will read the sentence and then glue the correct amount of apples to each tree. There is a black and white apple tree book (that you can have your student’s color) as well as a colorful one as well depending on which one you would like to use.

At the end of either book the last page also has an area where they read how many apples should be on each line and then draw the correct amount of apples according to what the number says. This bundle of activities will be a great addition to your math center during this season! Please let me know if you have any comments and/or questions!

Introduction to Abacus, Greater Than/Less Than|Comparing Numbers|More or Less

By Lynette Yung

In the activity, the pre-k and kindergarten students focus on comparing numbers and the abacus for numbers 0–9. Students will also practice writing “greater than” or “less than” to work on their fine motor skills.

This activity helps with number sense and solidifies the number relationships. Also encourages number order, like counting forward and counting backward.

In this activity, we are counting only from 0 to 9, because learning the abacus is only one column of the abacus. Abacus is easy to understand; it promotes tactile learning.

The abacus used has 1 bead on top and 4 beads on the bottom. This activity focuses on the top bead (has a value of 5) and the bottom beads (has a value of 1 for each bead).

Montessori Math Halloween: Numbers 1-10, Bead Stair Spider, Counting Objects

By Jessica Renee Montessori - JRMontessori

Have some Halloween math fun with these creepy spider cards featuring the Montessori bead stair! Your Pre-schoolers, Kindergarteners, and even Lower Elementary students will have fun internalizing the color and quantity of each bead bar with these unique spiders. The spiders are even sized appropriately for children to match the real bead bars directly on top.

This activity is different from the Bead Stair Spider Matching Cards because the bead bars are not colored in. Children will have to count the beads to determine which bead bar should match on top.

This printable doesn't require any extra preparation and is perfect for Halloween, a fall theme, or for children who simply love spiders and other creepy crawly things.

You will need the following bead bars to use this material:

12 of the 1 bead bar

6 of the 2 bead bar

4 of the 3 bead bar

4 of the 4 bead bar

2 of the 5 bead bar

2 of the 6 bead bar

2 of the 7 bead bar

2 of the 8 bead bar

2 of the 9 bead bar

6 of the 10 bead bar

What's included:

☀ 1 PDF with teacher information (preparation and basic presentation suggestions)

☀ 1 PDF of 10 different bead stair spiders with blank bead bars so children need to count before choosing which bead bar to match on top
