Take your Art room to the next level with this cross-curricular collage project for upper elementary students. Perfect for Hispanic Heritage Month, Day of the Dead, or anytime, this project has it all - high student engagement, multi-disciplinary and cross-curricular, differentiation strategies for reaching all learners, project examples, ideas to incorporate this lesson into centers, and much, much more!

I love doing this project in October leading up to Halloween because this artwork produces a great seasonal multicultural display that is tied to Día de los Muertos (and not Halloween). Hispanic Heritage Month ends a few weeks before Day of the Dead and this project integrates them perfectly!

This resource is in a PDF file and contains 20 pages. It includes:

Kirigami is a highly engaging, hands-on Day of the Dead project for upper elementary students and is perfect for dual language classes. This cross-curricular project can be used for Hispanic Heritage Month, Day of the Dead, or anytime and works well for Art on a cart. It includes tips for all learners to be successful and includes a 1 page student instruction sheet in English and Spanish to help your dual language students stay on track.
