Original Prompt

Write Linear Expressions in Different Forms for Situations

This learning resource explores the concept of linear expressions, which represent relationships where one variable changes at a constant rate with respect to another. The document starts with a clear definition of linear expressions, likening them to recipes that describe straight lines. It includes a real-world example of a game subscription cost, demonstrating how to express this situation mathematically as 2x + 3. Furthermore, the resource outlines three different forms of linear expressions: Standard Form (ax + b), Factored Form (a(x + b)), and Expanded Form (ax + ab), along with practical examples and explanations of their usefulness. The document also provides a worked example to illustrate how to choose the most appropriate form when representing a plumber's charges. Additional guided and independent practice sections encourage learners to convert between forms and apply their understanding to real-world scenarios, culminating with exit tickets to reinforce key concepts.
