Original Prompt

verb patterns infinitive gerund

This resource teaches students about infinitives and gerunds, two essential verb forms in English grammar. It defines infinitives as the base form of a verb typically preceded by 'to,' demonstrated through examples like "He decided to study." It contrasts this with gerunds, which are verbs ending in '-ing' that function as nouns, exemplified by "He enjoys studying." The document includes a variety of interactive activities such as sorting verbs into categories based on their grammatical patterns, collaborative sentence creation, and practical exercises that encourage students to apply their understanding of verb patterns in context. Additionally, it highlights common verbs that are typically followed by either form, the significance of meaning changes with certain verbs, and offers tips for correct usage.
