Save lots of money while shopping using coupons. This colorful, cheerful binder organizes your coupons and makes it easier for you to find just the right coupon you are looking for while out shopping. Teach your students or children in your household the value of saving money by saving coupons. Create your own coupon binder by using baseball card holders that you can find at many dollar stores or office supply stores. You can either use a two inch or three inch binder to set it up and place all your dividers in. There are two coupon sorting sheets available. Rather than flipping through the pages in your binder to insert coupons which can take a lot of time, you can use the coupon sorting mats. Once the coupons are all sorted, you can then place them in your binder. Children of all ages can help with sorting the coupons. Many kids can also help out with gathering coupons and cutting them out. Have your students write about ways they can help their family save money. There are a couple of writing prompts that you could use to have your students share ways that they can help their families save money. This does not necessarily mean just using coupons. It could mean saving money by turning off the lights when not in use, not taking long showers, or turning in cans for redemption. Some kids might write about a job they do such as a paper route, mowing the grass or shoveling snow. Some students might choose to discuss buying items on sale at the store and not demanding expensive name brand items."Older students can work on the total amount of savings from using coupons. They can also work on figuring out percentages to show how much money is saved during each shopping trip and totals for each month. In this product, students will learn the English vocabulary word for the different hobbies. Students will initially write each vocabulary word in their native language and after learning the English word, students will complete the hobby vocabulary review where they will be required to fill in the English and their native language hobby vocabulary word. I tend to use that section as a quiz. I will read the word aloud and the students will then write the English word and the word in their native language. Pictures are included for each vocabulary word to help students make connections to what each item is. Students can do this independently or with help. Students will be required to answer a few comprehension questions that relate with what their favorite hobby is, what their least favorite hobby is, etc.

In the third section of the product, there is a clothing vocabulary review that requires students to make up a sentence for each clothing vocabulary word learned in their native language.

In the fourth section of this product, students will then be required to write the English clothing vocabulary word and make up a sentence in English.

Figurative Language Short Passage Sets are a no-prep, printable close reading activity that's perfect for middle school and high school. Each passage has between 206-226 words and is filled with between 14-19 examples of figurative language, such as hyperbole, metaphor, simile, and personification. I’ve found that although my students can tell me the definition of these terms, simile is the only one they can truly pick out in a text. As a result, their writing is filled with overused similes that need work! These figurative language passage sets are rigorous, use higher-level words and phrases, and in addition to merely identifying the different types, students will be asked to discuss the impact it has on the reader, as they’re asked to do on standardized testing. Simply print and go! There is truly no preparation needed, which is why this set is perfect to leave for sub plans, bell ringers, homework, test prep, review or assessment!

Four Corners Figurative Language Activity is a fun whole-group game or review activity.
