WHAT IS INCLUDED?
Note: The flashcards should be printed on construction paper or a thicker paper. Then you can cut out the cards, glue the backs together, and laminate them for use year after year.
BONUS TIP!
Print the flashcards twice to create a BONUS matching game. Don't glue together the English word cards and Spanish word cards; instead, print and cut them separately. Lay the cards facedown on a table. Students take turns in pairs, flipping two cards at a time. If they find cards that match, they keep the pair. The student with the most pairs of words at the end wins. Encourage the students to say the Spanish words each time they flip over a Spanish card!
HOW IT WORKS
Print out the word search and distribute it to students to do individually or in teams.
Print the flashcards on thick paper.
Cut out the flashcards and glue them so one side shows the English words and the other side shows the Spanish words.

CORE FRENCH | FSL | PROF DU JOUR | DAILY ROUTINE | GAMES + COMMUNICATION PROMPTS
By French Made Fun!
Classroom management in a middle school Core French classroom can be dicey! That's why I engage my students as much as possible to keep em' on their toes! Prof du jour is a part of my everyday routine, where a different student each day is given the opportunity to lead the discussions with their peers and to give them confidence in French. Sit back and watch the magic!
This isn't just a run-of-the-mill calendar! My Prof du jour is at the command desk and interacts with their peers and the Google Slides. Here are some activities that my Grades 4, 5 and 6 students actively use found in this document:
Complete Calendar (drag & drop icons) for SEPTEMBER 2024 - JUNE 2025.
Weather, time of day, days of the week, and terms like "yesterday," "today," and "tomorrow."
Two versions available: One has the Sunday start and another has the Monday start, depending on how you prefer to view your calendar with your students.
A Wheel Decide question prompter (which you can edit by removing or adding questions your students are working on).
An "I SPY" prompter (a favorite in ALL of my classes).
A "GUESS WHO?" prompter.
A Franco DJ Music activity (great for explaining why they like/dislike something with sentence starters).
In addition to the calendar: This resource provides 27 fresh and fun ideas that can be easily incorporated into your lessons, designed to give students the opportunity to step into the role of "Prof du jour" and lead their peers in interactive activities.
These activities are perfect for students in Grades 4 to 8 and will foster an engaging, positive classroom atmosphere where students feel comfortable practicing their French language skills. Whether you want to boost participation, improve active listening, or simply add some energy to your class, these ideas are versatile and adaptable to different classroom dynamics. With no prep required, they can be used spontaneously to keep students on their toes and excited to take part.
How This Resource Benefits Your Classroom:
What’s Included:
In addition to your yearly calendar with interactive daily slides, this resource provides a list of 30 easy-to-implement activities, including:
Why Teachers Will Love It:
How to Use:
Simply choose an activity, explain it briefly to the "Prof du jour," and let them take the lead. Each activity is designed to be intuitive and easy to facilitate, so even without notice, the student leader can jump into their role confidently. You can rotate the "Prof du jour" daily or weekly, giving every student the opportunity to shine and grow in their speaking abilities.

CORE FRENCH | FSL | I SPY | CHERCHE ET TROUVE | C'EST MOI L'ESPION | PLACEMAT
By French Made Fun!
A simple spin on the classic game of I SPY ("Cherche et trouve" ou "C'est moi l'espion") geared towards Core French/FSL students in which they are first given practice with the structure: "Est-ce que c'est..." and answering the question with the affirmative, "oui, c'est..." or the negative, "non, ce n'est pas..."
Students are then provided an opportunity to take turns being the spy - using objects in your classroom.
It also comes with a 11" x 8.5" placemat to laminate (or to project onto your whiteboard/Smartboard) to provide students a visual when playing the game.
Colors, shapes, textures and prepositional phrases (left, right, on, under, behind) as well as size (big, small) are provided to give your students confidence and the vocabulary needed to make this game a hit!
I also provide an explanation of how I use this in my Core French classroom.

MATH GAMES | ORDERED PAIRS/CARTESIAN PLANES | PIRATE TREASURE (FRENCH)
By French Made Fun!
Your students will get excited for this activity which will have them hiding "pieces" of a ripped treasure map around the class and finding the locations in your classroom of their peers' "pieces." In fact, take it from my grade 6's who begged me to make more activities exactly like this one... So I did. They try these out before you guys do and let me know what's fun - they've given this the seal of approval.
Your sneaky investigators will need to piece together the map by collecting the ordered pairs of the map components in their handy collection journal, will plot their points in the treasure map and find the location of the treasure chest! In this activity, they'll be focusing on the first quadrant, ordered pairs and X and Y axes.
Included in this 8-page activity is:
This works amazingly for a sub and takes roughly 45 minutes to an hour for the students to hide the map parts, find the map parts, and then rebuild the map in their cartesian plane - and finally, to find that loot! YAR MATEYS!

CORE FRENCH | FSL | BOÎTE À BENTO | BOX | GAME-BASED LEARNING | JEUX + UNITÉS |
By French Made Fun!
My (very) low-level middle-schoolers love learning about niche objects and concepts in Core French. I use their interests and personalities to create engaging projects that meet the outcomes. I actively use this particular project with grades 4, 5 and 6 but it could easily be used in a grade 7 or even grade 8 classrooms. If you use Pearson's Échos Pros, this works AMAZINGLY alongside "Ah oui, j'aime ça!"
This 30+ page project will prompt your discussions and activities and will provide your students with engaging, highly visual, clear and simple instructions and examples. My products are not babyish -- this is the main reason I started creating products.
You will find:
My products consistently grow. Anytime I create a new activity, I modify this document so that it is always up-to-date and complete.

Boost your students' vocabulary surrounding Fall and Halloween with this Make-Your-Own Bingo activity suitable for all ages and all levels of French.
This activity is a great way to have your students create their own bingo cards and then to play with them. It comes with many versions depending on your Core French groups.
Choose the version applicable to your students' level and then they'll cut out their squares and paste them to their bingo card. Take this to the next level by laminating their cards so that they can use a dry-erase marker as a bingo dabber!
This comes with the call-out cards.
Enjoy!

Besides loving that your students will be engaged in this highly interactive activity, you'll quickly come to appreciate that you can use these games across many levels with any tense that meets your needs!
Students play in pairs. They play quick games of "pierre, feuille, ciseaux" to see who will be able to move forward a certain number of spaces on the game board.
The following sentences are written in French on the game board, and it’s fun way to get them speaking more French during the game if they say them when they win:
⭐ La pierre écrase les ciseaux.
⭐ La feuille enveloppe la pierre.
⭐ Les ciseaux découpent la feuille.
When a student lands on a space, he conjugates and translates the verb written on it using the subject pronoun provided. Winning is easy, as long as you're the first one to reach la fin!
Included with this resource:
► Instructions on how to play
► 4 different versions of the game
The instructions are written in English, so this will be an easy activity for you to leave for a non-French speaking substitute teacher on days when you can't be there.

⭐ Students love that it’s highly interactive
