Food Allergy Awareness Education BOOM CARDS™ for Elementary Back to School
By Teaching Dinos
This 92 BOOM Card™ deck with full audio on Food Allergies, is a 2 part deck that consists of both a presentation and a question and activity section. Students will learn about the top 8 food allergens, reactions, and how to keep their friends safe. Use it as a whole class activity, or use in your distance learning and hybrid school models. Enjoy this no-prep, self-grading, important awareness education that you can use year after year! BOOM Cards™ would be great on a laptop, desktop, Chromebook, tablet, or any other mobile device that can access the internet. They can even be used on your Smart Board!
15% of all food allergic children have had a reaction in school. Over 40% of food allergic children have experienced a severe reaction. Children with food allergies NEED the help of their classmates and teacher if they experience a food allergic reaction!
Help educate your students on this important and necessary topic. It’s an important step towards awareness, acceptance of food allergic students, and helping aid in keeping students safe so they can have the opportunity to learn the best they are able, without fear of their own safety.
This BOOM Deck (92 cards) contains:
Presentation: In an engaging audio narrated presentation featuring a silly duck, named Quackers, students will become educated on what food allergies are, the top 8 allergens, signs of a reaction and what classmates can do if a reaction occurs, how to be a good friend to someone with food allergies, and ways to keep their food allergic friends safe. This is just under 10 minutes long and includes a song to help students remember allergens and ways to help keep food allergic students safe.
Questions & Feedback: In this portion, students will answer questions on food allergies by clicking on the correct answers. Each question also contains full audio, as well as instant feedback for each answer.

Students: What I Think I Do - Week 1 Internet Activity
By Mark Holmes
I envisaged this to be a September week 1 internet activity. It will give students an opportunity to think about how other people perceive them. It could also be used as a lesson in how to search Google effectively or used as a dictionary / thesaurus activity, where students have to find descriptive words in order to search for appropriate pictures on Google Images.
These have been doing the rounds on FaceBook and email recently. You may have received posters / postcards entitled "Teachers...." or "Moms..." and then under the title are a series of photos with captions like;
What my friends think I do
What my mother thinks I do
What I think I do
What I really do
Each caption is accompanied by an image of what that person thinks about the other person or group of people.
The sample here is of the "Teacher..." postcard. This is NOT what I am selling. I am selling a similar template entitled, "Students..." It is laid out the same as the teacher one with the same titles (the word teacher has been replaced with student), however, the pictures are missing. Students must search Google Images for appropriate pictures that characterize themselves. The photo titles are as follows;
Students...
What my friends think I do
What my mother thinks I do
What society thinks I do
What my teachers think I do
What I think I do
What I really do
My students printed off the images and then cut them out and pasted them on.
Enjoy!!!!

French Ice Breaker Bundle - Back To School French Speaking Activities
By Love Learning Languages - French Resources
Looking for fun ideas to get your students speaking French at the end of the year or at la rentrée? These are my favorite ice breakers that I like to use specifically for that reason! Use these speaking activities, games and listening comprehension activities all year long and get your students motivated while having loads of fun. You're going to love hearing your students speaking French together.
Two of the resources included are specific to back to school time while the others can be used year round. You can use them at all levels in the classroom as well as with your school's French club when you're looking for a fun activity to get them speaking French or for long bus rides on school sponsored trips. These are wonderful activities either for French immersion or French as a second language programs.
I recommend printing, laminating, cutting out, punching holes and attaching the cards together with a ring for NO PREP activities for years to come, and for the 100 French speaking activity worksheets I've found that it is best to print them all out and keep them in a binder for easy access when you need to make photocopies.
Here's what's included in this money saving bundle. Just click on the links to see more in depth product descriptions:
Ceci ou Cela - French Game of 2 Extremes Ice-breaker Activity
- Keep your middle school and high school French students active by playing the "Two Extremes" game. The facilitator will use a stack of cards listing things, activities or places that fall at opposite ends of the spectrum, such as: salty or sweet, Paris or New York, Mac or PC. Students will see all of the things that they have in common with their classmates and will likely learn some new vocabulary while they’re at it!
Le Petit Bac - French Scattergories Game
- Players attempt to create answers for each of the four categories on their game. This should be a fast moving game and there are only spaces for six words per category. The MAXIMUM they can write is six words so they have to choose them wisely. Students can be creative and flexible with their answers, but other players can challenge them!
French Speaking Game and Activity: CATCH PHRASE
- Catch Phrase is a fun game to get your students speaking and having fun in French while learning tons of new vocabulary words. This game doesn't follow any particular theme, so the 80 playing cards display 80 unrelated words - a fantastic way to round out your students' speaking skills!
50 vrai ou faux French questions
- Use these cards for partnered speaking practice. Answers are included. If a student believes the statement to be true he says so. If he believes it to be false he has to try and correct it. The statements are mostly based on general knowledge and are a wonderful way to increase vocabulary and fluency.
Qu'est-ce que tu préférerais - "I'd rather" French speaking cards
- This is a set of 75 cards that you can use to practice the French conditional even with students who haven't yet learned it! A fantastic resource for building vocabulary and sparking French conversations.
French trivia game
- Your students will LOVE this trivia game. There is a version only in French and one in both English and French for beginner students. I've included many ways that you can use these cards including a powerpoint version so that you can do a class activity.
Je n'ai jamais - "I've never" French speaking game
- This "I've never" game is a great ice-breaker and students will find out a lot about each other (in French) while playing. There's a French only version as well as a French - English version included.
120 French conversation starter cards
- These cards are perfect for beginner to advanced level French students. Shuffle through the cards to pick out which are right for the level you're teaching. Use them throughout the year(s) as your students learn more.
Classic French taboo speaking game
- My all time favorite game for increasing fluency at ANY level - French Taboo Speaking Game!! All game cards are in French and English so your students will learn tons of new vocabulary. Beginner and advanced playing instructions are included.
Babar - La Rentrée des Classes - Listening comprehension
- This listening comprehension activity will work at any level, but especially from year 2 and up. All 45 questions have multiple choice answers and are in chronological order. The video link included is on YouTube.
25 questions pour faire parler à la rentrée
- Just perfect for back to school, these 25 questions will have your students talking to each other in French about summer break and expectations for the new school year.
100 French worksheets for group speaking activities - 100 vocabulary themes
Fantastic for any time of the year, these 100 one page worksheets will have your students speaking about just anything you can imagine. It's a great way to review and reinforce French vocabulary. Instructions are included which explain my favorite ways to use these worksheets.
Tell me 3 things - Dis-moi trois choses
This is a simple French speaking game that includes 100 cards. This activity can easily be modified according to different levels. Intermediate to advanced level students work in pairs or small groups and take turns choosing a card and saying three things about what is written on it. Other students listen closely and can react and / or ask questions. The vocabulary is completely random and varied. All of the cards are written in French only, so it may be helpful to have a dictionary on hand if some of the words / expressions are new.
Check out my new Build Your Own French Bundle option. Select resources from my store, and if they total $20 or more I'll quickly create a special order bundle for you at 20% off. No sale items or other already discounted bundles can be included.

Online Classroom Management Signs for Managing Student Expectations
By Kimberly
❤️Do you struggle with classroom management through a screen? These easy to read, printable signs can be used for distance learning in your online classroom to help manage student expectations and as gentle reminders for redirection.
✏️They can be used for all ages but are especially helpful for guiding younger or visual learners.
✏️These can also be used for ESL learners that may find a visual helpful when being given directions (Example: "Draw a line", "Drag and drop" etc.).
✏️This resource is low prep and will save you time! Simply print on card stock paper and laminate for durability.
✏️Perfect for back to school!
