Apple-Themed Count & Match Game - Fall-Themed Math Center:
This activity is perfect for learning numbers as well as practicing one-to-one correspondence. The #2 pages that you attach to the file folder have baskets with numbers 1-10 on them. There are also #2 pages of apple flashcards. Each flashcard has different amounts of apples 1-10 on them. Have your students count the number of apples on each flashcard and then match it to the correct number basket.
Leaf-Themed Shape Matching Game:
There are #10 different shapes included in this activity. The #2 pages that you attach to the file folder have dots in the middle of each shape where you can attach a velcro dot to it. You can then attach a velcro dot to the opposite side of the leaf flashcards in order to make the matching process easier. This is a great activity for your young learners to practice matching and saying their shapes.
Pumpkin Themed Letter Matching Game:
This activity has both Uppercase and lowercase letters and is perfect for your young learners and learning the difference between Uppercase and lowercase letters. You should attach the #2 pages of pumpkins (Uppercase letters) to the file folder and then cut out the #1 page of pumpkin seeds (lowercase letters). I would attach a velcro dot at the top of each pumpkin and then on the back of each pumpkin seed in order to make the letter matching process easier for your students.

This game is a fun color-matching activity for your little learners. Each leaf is a different color have your students practice saying and matching each color together.

File Folder Uppercase & lowercase Letter Match:
This is a great file folder game for your students. It’s a fun way for your students to practice matching the correct Uppercase and lowercase letters together. There is #2 pages of Uppercase letters as well as #1 page of lowercase letters.
Print, laminate and attach the #2 pages of the Uppercase Letters (pumpkins) to a file folder. Then cut out and laminate the pumpkin seeds with the lowercase letters on them.
I would recommend getting small velcro dots and attaching them to the front top of the pumpkins as well as the back of the pieces of the pumpkin seeds to make the matching process easier.

1st Grade Benchmark Literacy Supplemental Resources

These products are supplemental activities that I use with my 1st grade students to help them learn their sight words for Benchmark Literacy. The students absolutely love playing Zoom! Zoom! and ask to play it all the time. The sight words strips are perfect for centers or before you start guided reading. The students are able to practice their sight words quietly. How to Play Zoom! Zoom!: 2-4 players Place cards face down on the table. Players take turns flipping the top card. The player reads the word. If they can read it, they place it in front of them. When a player gets a Zoom! Zoom! card, all the other players Zoom! all of their cards to him/her. In this product you will find four different versions to use in your classroom. The first two pages of this document have only the decodable words for this unit. Each word will appear two times on each sheet since there is not many decodable words. This can be seen on the first page of the preview. The third and fourth page of this document have a mixture of decodable words and sight words. Every sight word is on the sheet and the remainder of the sheet is be filled with decodable words. This product is a supplemental activity to make your lessons more engaging! This product is the BANG! word game using decodable words and sight words from 1st Grade Benchmark Literacy Phonics Unit 4. Benchmark Literacy Phonics Unit 4 is final s-family blends (sk, sp, and st). This produce includes four pages. The decodable words are on the first two pages and the sight words are on the last two pages. There are a total of 40 card which includes 16 decodable words, 16 sight words, and 8 "BANG!" cards. The cards can also be used as flashcards! Directions on how to play: • Students take turns drawing the cards from a face-down pile and try to say the word on the card. • If they can say the word correctly, they get to keep the card. If they cannot, the card goes on the bottom of the card for someone else to have a chance. If playing with only two students, the partner gets a turn and can keep the card if they know it. • When a Bang! card is drawn from the pile the student who drew it has to return all their cards to the bottom of the pile. The Bang! card is not put back into the can. • The game ends when all the cards are drawn. The student with the most cards is the winner! This game is perfect for partner work or small groups! In this product you will find four different versions to use in your classroom. The first two pages of this document have only the CVCe long O decodable words for this unit. Most of the decodable words appear two times on each sheet. The third and fourth page of this document have decodable words along with the sight words. All sight words appear one time on each page and the remaining spots are decodable words. The fifth page is a combination of the short O decodable words (spot, crop, prod, stop, and drop) and the CVCe long O decodable words. How I use Four in a Row in my classroom: The students play with a partner and each group gets a set of double sided counters. Our counters are yellow and red. One student is red and the other student is yellow. The students take turns and say a word. If the word is read correctly, the student can put a counter on that space. The other student gets a turn and place a counter on the space if they say the word correctly. If a student says a word incorrectly, they do not get to place a counter on the space and it is the other person’s turn. The game continues until one student has four counters in a row across, diagonally, or up and down.
