More than $20 British History Research

A Google Forms reading comprehension bundle with forty individual activities about key events from May, June, July or August from history, or famous figures that were either born or died in the summer. The activities, which come in PDF format too, have an informational text with comprehension and grammar questions followed by an extension task, are about the following people or topics:

• The famous English king who ruled during the Revolutionary War, King George III, who was born on the 4th June 1738.
• The famous World War II battle, the Battle of Midway, which began on the 4th June 1942.
• The first African American woman to be admitted into NASAs astronaut program, Mae Jemison, who joined on the 4th June 1987.

• The famous wonder, Petra, which was discovered on the 22nd August 1812 in Jordan, after being hidden from western eyes for centuries.
• The famous NASA mathematician and scientist, Katherine Johnson, who was born on the 26th August 1918.

Time allowance to complete each activity:

5-10 minutes - read through the text individually.

40-50 minutes - answer questions using the text as guidance (including extension activity)

Time allowance to assess:

A class set of activities might take around 15-20 minutes to mark; the teacher can then send the students their marks automatically, which allows them to read back through their work. Nearly all answers are not automatically generated, but only require a small amount of work to assign points. This is because the aim is to get students writing answers and not to just have multiple choice options.

In this full-length lesson plan, students will closely examine the final lines of Shakespearean characters before their deaths (if you know Shakespeare, there are quite a few!). I invented the take on this game several years ago and it has become one of my students' and my favorite days of the whole school year. • The Battles of Trenton & Princeton

These activities require NO PREP and have a body of text that students need to read through thoroughly; then they can use the text to find the comprehension and grammar answers. All texts then have an extension activity for those fast finishers. Answers, for teacher use, are on the final page of each document.

Also included is a great classroom display and sorting activity that is perfect for introducing students to some of the key events of the American Revolution. Great for class work, distance learning or home schooling.
