After reading orwatching Enemy Pie, students will create their own FRIENDSHIP pie by listing the "ingredients" that make a good friend.

Teach students the steps to washing hands in this digital interactive activity with moveable pieces or you can use this by printing it out as a cut-and-paste activity in the classroom. This product also has a mini poster to hang up the steps to wash hands.

I teach and model for my students to wash their hands for at least 20 seconds. They need to clean both the back and front of their hands. I also model how to dry my hands with a paper towel and use that same towel to turn the water off. This way they keep their hands nice and clean before throwing away the paper towel.

Then they will write about their greatest gift, cut and glue that to their ornament!

Directions:

• Students will choose a mandala ornament to decorate or use the blank one provided to make their own.

• Next, students will cut out their mandala and writing ornament and glue the lined writing ornament to the back of their mandala ornament.
• Last, laminate and cut them out, hole punch the top, and add a string! Hang them on your classroom tree.

This interactive SEL classroom lesson provides fun and engagement for the entire class, while reminding them that everyone (including Disney characters!) uses growth mindset and gratitude in their roles - just as we should do! This activity will have students using creative thinking skills, communication, growth mindset, and so much more! My students have loved this activity and ask to do it frequently (See Leadership Lessons from Disney lesson in my store as well!) I use Disney characters as most are familiar with many of the characters and it is fun to see their faces light up when they get it correct. AVID Thanksgiving Activity - Speed Philosophical Chairs Debate for Team Building: Use this speed philosophical chairs icebreaker to promote debate through dialogue and public speaking/listening in your classroom as well as get students in the Thanksgiving spirit! Students will not only learn what speed philosophical chairs is but they will enjoy some exciting dialogue through 20 fun debate topics.

For example, students will choose to agree or disagree with the statement, "You should not start decorating for Christmas until after Thanksgiving."

What's Included:

• A teach slide for "the why" of speed philosophical chairs
• A slide which includes the rules of engagement for students
• A slide for the steps of this speed philosophical chairs activity

The Steps:

1. A central statement will be announced to the class and we will define the two sides

of the debate (Agree/Disagree).

2. You will move to the side

of the room with the position that you intend to defend.

3. A timer will be set for 5 minutes, and the debate will start between the two groups.

4. Be concise and attempt to keep you contributions to less than 30 seconds each. The goal is to have an up-tempo debate, where the arguments for and against the prompt are batted back and forth with quick, verbal strokes. When the timer goes off, the conversation is immediately over.

5. A new prompt is displayed and we start another round of quick debates.
