Writer's Workshop - First Twenty Days outline This gives you a twenty day introduction to writers' workshop in the middle grades. From going through the rules of the workshop, to editing vs. conferencing, to the different genre of writing. Everything is covered or introduced in this twenty day plan. Although this is intended for use when the school year begins, it can easily be used at any point throughout the year to teach different aspects that are covered. This Rubric is thorough and explicate making it feasible for teachers to accurately score and evaluate their students' writing responses or essays. This rubric scores the step-by-step writing assignment out of 18 possible points. The rating scale use is a 3, 2, 1, & 0.

This creative writing assignment should accompany Ellen Raskin's book The Westing Game. With this assignment, students will stop reading at the beginning of chapter 24 and finish the story on their own. Directions, writing requirements, a focus on dialogue, and a rubric are all included in this resource. There is a colored version for posting online and a black and white version for printing.

Self-reflection is so important for students of all ages and what better time to reflect on learning than at the end of each term? With that in mind, I created this end of term reflection assignment that prompts students to consider all of the meaningful experiences they had for the quarter in my class. My students really get into this assignment and I'm sure yours will too! Option 1: Divided Paragraphs (Provides a more structured approach)

1. The Crust: Your adventure begins at the surface, on the Earth's crust. Describe the landscape – is it a scorching desert, a lush forest, or a mountain peak? What sights and sounds surround you?
2. The Mantle: As you burrow deeper, the heat intensifies. You've reached the mantle, the thickest layer of the Earth. Describe the strange and wondrous things you encounter here – molten rocks, exotic crystals, or perhaps even signs of ancient creatures.
