Create your own Feudal Manor:

Students will learn about and create their own Feudal Manor Map. They will determine where the different groups will be located throughout their own invented manor and follow up with questions to increase rigor.

Students will use their knowledge and creativity to make this map. Each student's map will be unique and an excellent display.

Rigor is added through follow up questions. Students can follow up with deeper level thinking by answering extension questions.

Aligns with Indiana Sixth Grade Social Studies Standard 6.H.4.

A biography writing unit about the life of the famous Spanish conquistador and explorer, Hernán Cortés. The NO PREP unit has been split into four separate lessons and is perfect for students in third grade or fourth grade.

The first lesson is interactive and involves students cutting out facts, and then sorting these facts into paragraphs. In the second lesson the students need to use these facts to write four paragraphs. Then, in the third lesson children need to choose the most important facts and include these in an introduction; after this they need to answer several questions on a prompt sheet before writing up their conclusion. In the final lesson students need to check their draft paragraphs for mistakes before writing up their work on to a neat copy on the template provided.

A Charlemagne Escape Room activity. Ideal for fifth grade or sixth grade, the activity is perfect for group work, starting a new topic about the Middle Ages, team-building activities or for a fun, engaging and interactive lesson. In Task 1 students will read an informational text about Charlemagne and then find their way through a maze by answering true or false comprehension questions. If they answer the questions correctly they will reveal their first word.

In Task 2 students will use the same informational text to complete a crossword puzzle. Within the puzzle there are several hidden letters which will need to be unscrambled on the completion of the puzzle to reveal the second word.

In Task 3 students will have to cut out 27 timeline task cards about important historical events from the Middle Ages before putting them in order from the earliest date to the most recent. When they have finished their task they can glue them onto the answer key which will reveal their third word.

In Task 4 students will have to find the missing words in a wordsearch puzzle before finding a hidden word from the letters that are left over in the puzzle. This hidden word is their fourth and final word.

Students can then complete their student answer key with the four words they revealed before checking with the teacher to see if they have escaped successfully.
