Do I need to use a specific Bible Story Book?

No! While I prefer to use The Beginner’s Bible Timeless Children’s Stories by Zondervan with these lessons, they are not required. You can easily use your own favorite Bible Story book, Scripture, or simply read the Bible Summary in the actual lesson that retells the Bible story.

Statement of Faith:

I believe that the Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God. I believe that Jesus is fully God and fully human, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life and paid the penalty for our sins through his death on the cross, resurrected on the third day having victory over death. I believe in the trinity, that God is existent in 3 separate persons - God the Father, the Son, and Holy Spirit. I believe, as Calvary Chapel states, “that all people are by nature separated from God and responsible for their own sin, but that salvation, redemption, and forgiveness are freely offered to all by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. This resource gives you everything you need to teach Joshua 6 in French and to help preschoolers and kindergarten students to remember. Appropriate for language learners at novice high or intermediate low level or native speakers. The lesson focuses on the fall of the walls of Jericho as the Israelites obey God's command to march around the city and shout when Joshua gives the word. Students will learn about God's faithfulness to His promises.

Included:

• Story pages with color. I laminate these and keep them in a binder. I also print on both sides to save paper.
• Story pages in black and white, which are great for coloring pages
• A storyboard in color (great for booklets and to help students retell the story.
• A storyboard in black and white (also a great coloring page or booklet) I often send these home with students so parents can see exactly what the students learned and maybe even retell the story with them.
• Puzzles -a 9 piece and a 4 piece. Another great way to retell the story. Simply cut the puzzle pieces out and have students put them together. Once they see the completed image, you can ask about the pictures and how they fit into the story.
• A counting activity (with answer key) using the pictures from the story. I love to put many skills to use. Students can count the objects and people and tell why they are important.
• A word search activity (with answer key)
• Joshua 6:27 flash cards for the memory verse. Editable for a different version if you prefer
• Joshua 6:27 memory verse poster. Again, editable if you prefer a different version.

1. How to prep:

I printed and laminated the story pages the evening before. I also printed the coloring page and the memory verse activity sheets the evening before.

2. I read the story pages. Students can color while I read to help them focus.

3. I showed the story cards (just smaller versions of the slides that students take home) to students and asked them to repeat as much of the story back to me as they can.

4. Students can put the puzzle together and retell again if there is time.

5. Students can also work on the word search or counting activity, depending on the age.

2. There are a variety of coloring pages for students to do during the lesson to help them listen to the story but still busy with a non-linguistic activity so their brains do not have competition between the 2 activities.

Show the 5 Major Religions YouTube video or a video of your choice to introduce Judaism, Islam, and Christianity—the three monotheistic religions.

COOPERATIVE LEARNING READING ACIVITY

Students will work in group to complete Venn diagram or comparison chart (students' choice) as they read "What You Need To Know About World Religions" packet on Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

REVIEW GAME:

Review Activity—Bingo Trading Cards

Provide each team with a Bingo Card. Each team will work together to create nine open-ended questions for their Bingo Cards related to the history, beliefs, and traditions of each of the religions being studied—Judaism, Islam and Christianity—but will leave the answer for each question blank. Students will have 10 minutes to work in their teams to develop and insert their open-ended questions.

Once students have finished developing and inserting all 9 questions (one per box), the game will begin. This is not a typical Bingo game. It is actually not Bingo at all. Students trade cards and roll dice to determine which question his/her team will attempt to answer. Once answered, they trade cards again and so on. Very fun and effective review game!

No! While I prefer to use The Beginner’s Bible Timeless Children’s Stories by Zondervan with these lessons, they are not required. You can easily use your own favorite Bible Story book, Scripture, or simply read the Bible Summary in the actual lesson that retells the Bible story.

1. How to prep:

I printed and laminated the story pages the evening before. I also printed the coloring page and the memory verse activity sheets the evening before.

2. I read the story pages. Students can color while I read to help them focus.

3. I showed the story cards (just smaller versions of the slides that students take home) to students and asked them to repeat as much of the story back to me as they can.

4. Students can put the puzzle together and retell again if there is time.

5. Students can also work on the word search or counting activity, depending on the age.

6. Sequencing activity - cut out the bottom half of the page and have the students cut out the picture boxes. Students can put the correct picture with the correct caption.

Teach kids the "Good" of Good Friday. Jesus came to save! All the sad and painful things He had to go through were all a part of God's plan to save us! He willingly followed this plan, all the way to the cross.

Good Friday can be a difficult lesson to teach littles, so I created this lesson to give you plenty of material to teach them the "Good" news of Good Friday.

I provided many options so you can decide how detailed you like to teach the cross and what images you would like to use.

This lesson tells all Jesus went through to save us from the garden of Gethsemane to the high priest, to Pontius Pilate, to the soldiers mistreating Him, to the cross, and then to the grave. Throughout it all, I reinforce- We know Jesus could have stopped them, but He trusted in God’s plan to save us. He knew this was the only way. I also include that He came back alive.

•Fill the basket matching game Children play a matching game and ‘fill their basket’ with the fruit of The Spirit.

•Fruit of The Spirit Tree Craft Using a the templates provided or creating your own ‘tree’ with construction paper and paint, students will cut and paste all the ‘apples’ with the fruit of the Spirit on the tree. It has the saying “ Just like an apple on an apple tree, God can grow the fruit of The Spirit in me!” This one is a great visual and keeper for years to come!

•Kids Bible Verse Song Use this simple and easy, catchy tune to help children remember The Fruit of The Spirit. Other kids songs provided in links in the playlist.

•Playlist A list and links to great Kids Music, Contemporary Christian, Worship Songs and Hymns that are about Shine Your Light!

•You could lead the kids in worship, sing along or simply have them playing while you learn and play.

(NOTE-Although I use some images of Johnny Appleseed as an example of someone sowing seeds, I decided not to write specifically about him. This lesson is all about the Holy Spirit. All of my lessons are based on the Bible, Gods Holy word. Nothing else. But feel free to read his story separately as you see fit. )

My Mini Bible Letter Books

One for each letter of the alphabet! Each mini book is 7 mini pages on two full sheet of paper. They are easy to print, cut down the middle and staple together.

Each Book Includes

• Page 1: A Bible verse that begins with the letter. This can be used for memorization too!

  • Ex) All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Rom.3:23

• Page 2: Letter with Bible Word, Picture & short lesson

  • •Ex) A is for Adam
  • •Adam was the first man God created.

• •Page 3:Another Letter with Bible Word, Picture & short lesson

  • •Ex) a is for angel
  • •An angel told Mary she was going to have Baby Jesus.

• Page 4: Uppercase Learn & Practice: you can use these pages to teach what the letter looks like and how to write it, you could also introduce the sound.

  • Say & trace it- The letter is shown with numbered traceable lines inside it for the student to follow. Could use a highlighter
  • Color it: The letter is shown in a sort of bubble font so the student can color inside it.
  • Write it : The letter is shown dotted on lines for the student to trace then write on their own.

• Page 5: Lowercase Learn & Practice: you can use these pages to teach what the letter looks like and how to write it, you could also introduce the sound.

  • Say & trace it- The letter is shown with numbered traceable lines inside it for the student to follow. Could use a highlighter
  • Color it: The letter is shown in a sort of bubble font so the student can color inside it.
  • Write it : The letter is shown dotted on lines for the student to trace then write on their own.

• Page 6: Letter Maze The letters on in block squares inside a maze. The Student must look for the letter to follow a path from start to finish. Could use a highlighter.

• •Page 7: Letter Sounds Cut & Paste At the end of this resource you will find pictures of things that begin with each letter of the alphabet. The student will cut and paste the pictures that make the same sound.

  • •Ex) on the A page, the student should cut an anchor, acorn, angel and ax.

Letter Sounds Pictures ( Pg. 58-65)

•Organized three letters at a time, these are pictures of things that begin with each letter of the alphabet. These are small enough to cut out and paste onto the last page of the mini book. Very little ones – You could let them find the right pictures then you may want to cut them out for them. I would suggest printing them on cardstock. I used a color cardstock.

Alphabet Posters Sample ( 67-70)

•I created full sized posters to be used to decorate your classroom, use as visuals, stick to your fridge or dry erase board to remember the letter of the week. I provided three free samples for you in this resource. Post on cardstock or laminate.

What's great about these mini books is they include almost all of the resources that are in other kinds of letter of the week curriculums but i_nstead of wasting tons of paper, you are are only printing two pages a week_ !

These were created with Preschoolers in mind, but they could be used with Kindergarten as review, as remediation or for sped.
