Colorful Semantics is a structured language intervention designed to support the development of language and communication skills, particularly in children with speech and language difficulties. This resource includes cards to help children build sentences, it includes cards that describe ‘who to’, ‘who with’, ‘how’, ‘what like’, and ‘when’.

Why do you need this?

Colorful Semantics uses color coded cards to help children to learn the important elements of a sentence and how to join them together in the correct order. By visually representing each part of the sentence with a specific color, learners can better understand the structure and meaning of sentences, as well as the relationships between words.

How and when might you use this?

This approach is often implemented through a variety of interactive and hands-on activities, such as sentence building games, storytelling, and picture-based exercises. It can be tailored to the individual needs and abilities of learners, making it suitable for use in both classroom settings and speech and language clinics.

This Spring Bugs comparing and contrasting activity is a great language activity for speech therapy students or English language learners learning to compare and contrast. ** Are you looking for a resource to teach students to understand temporal concepts or are you Teaching sequence of events, Following directions or Sentence writing?  These syntax activities will teach your students how to understand 25, higher level temporal concepts (prior to, simultaneous, thereafter). It is a simple drill in which students are provided with a small scenario containing the word and asked to determine the meaning of the concept.**

You will receive a 26 Slide Lesson which contains the lesson and one Assessment worksheet to print.

The Lesson works well with older students (Grades 6- 10)  or with students who have mild  cognitive delays yet good language skills. An independent lesson will take about 30 minutes however if you are using it as a teaching tool during instruction the lesson can easily fill 60 minutes with breaks in between for group discussion. Irregular verb flashcards with the forms of past simple and past participle. Picture rhymes make drilling 76 irregular verbs more fun and less effort, great for teaching correct pronunciation. A perfect resource for dyslexic students. I use them in my EFL classes but I'm sure they would also work great in speech therapy sessions. This is an ink friendly version, should you prefer more colour, check out my store.

I teach classes with a high concentration of dyslexic students. With their limitations in mind, I created flashcards that cater to their abilities. With my students these flashcards work like a charm. I find that their ability to recollect the correct forms of past simple and past participle has greatly improved. I recommend starting with the larger flashcards. Once your students are familiar with the picture rhymes, use the smaller flashcards that contain just the infinitive and pictures rhymes.
