• This resource consists of one passage titled “Reading Boy” with six differentiated question worksheets (Multiple-Choice, Short Answer, and Short Response) to help you differentiate for students of ALL levels. Three of the worksheets require students to use evidence/details from the passage to support ideas. Worksheets come in different formats. ANSWER KEYS for all worksheets are included!

Level Complexity:

• Question Worksheets range from basic comprehension questions (lower-level)

to inferential questions (higher-level).

• ALL Questions Worksheets consist of the same passage!

• This can be used as a quiz, test, formative assessment, homework assignment, classwork assignment, or can even be used during guided practice! The resource features a glossary with definitions of 7 types of figurative language as well as examples of how they're used in passages from the play. The resource also includes a three-page quiz in which students have to identify the type of figurative language used in each of 40 quotations from Romeo and Juliet. For teachers, the resource features an answer key that will enable you to grade students' quizzes quickly and efficiently.

Here's what you'll find in this editable 7-page resource:

• Glossary of Figurative Language: The glossary features definitions for the 7 types of figurative language which appear most prominently in Romeo and Juliet: metaphor, simile, paradox, oxymoron, personification, apostrophe, and hyperbole. Have stacks of essays and writing assignments you need to grade and looking for a quick and easy way to grade them? Look no further, scoop up these Writing Peer Assessments which come 2 per page and put the bulk of the grading task on the students themselves! Working with their peers, students first read the writing assignments or essays, then list their strengths and weaknesses. At this point, you can also give them copies of rubrics to reference as well. After doing a deep-dive into the writing assignment, students then assign a grade and staple their Peer Writing Assessment slip to the front and all you need to do is review the comments and decide if you agree with the grade given. In the end, the grade given by the teacher is final! Although I don't utilize this method for EVERY essay I grade, I definitely turn to these peer assessments when grading becomes overwhelming!

This rubric looks at 6 different areas when students are being assessed on writing a research report. The areas that are reviewed on the rubric are as follows: research report topic and flow - opening and closing relate with one another, using quotations throughout from any sources used, research materials used relate to topic researched, staying on task, grammar/punctuation/spelling, and working with others. This rubric scores research report writing assignment out of 18 possible points. The rating scale use is a 3, 2, 1, & 0.

How You Can Use the Stem Strips

✅ One great idea is to provide students with these rectangular stems and have them write their names on the back. During discussion, every time a student introduces/expresses his or her ideas using the sentence starter on the Accountable Talk Rectangular Stem Strip, they hand that stem strip to you. At the end of class, you will be able to see and take note of how many times each student used the stem starter during discussion when presenting ideas. (All you have to do is look at their names in the back). This resource includes one Peer Evaluation Rubric in three variations - Same content. Editable versions are included, so you can modify in such a way that meets the needs of your students and instructional plans!

The Peer Evaluation Accountable Talk Discussion Rubric is meant for students to use and asses each other during Class Talk. Before beginning a discussion or debate, give each student a Peer Evaluation Rubric with another student’s name on it. (You can decide who will asses who, or you can just randomly write the names on Rubrics). Ask students to “secretly” observe and assess that student’s participation during the class discussion or debate. Students should not know who is assessing who so that evaluations of participation are fair. Throughout the discussion or debate, students will take meaningful notes of their classmates’ performances. At the end of the discussion or debate, give them 5 minutes to score the student whose name is on their Peer Evaluation Rubric. Finally, students can go up to the person they were observing and hand them the rubric. At the very end, the teacher collects the rubrics for review. This has worked so well for me! Students were always “on their toes." Students found it so exciting to be observed by classmates and also observe others.

Students' reflection of classroom talk helps them identify areas and skills that need both improvement and enrichment. These reflection sheets encourage students to reflect about their experiences during collaborative talk and develop an appreciation for particular skills involved. These reflection sheets are student-friendly making it feasible for students of all levels to think and write about their overall participation in a collaborative learning environment.
