Have students cut and glue the puzzle pieces to match the board for fine motor practice or laminate and velcro for repeated use.

Learn the US states and capitals with these foldable flash cards. This 50 states and capitals activity helps students learn the states and their capital cities.

What is Included:

Each state is represented with its own foldable flash card. On the front of the card is an outline of each state with a star for the location of the capital city. The inside of the card reveals the capital city of that state. There are picture directions showing how to create the foldable flashcards.

How to Use:

Students will look at the image of the US state and see if they can remember the capital city for that state. Then, they will open the card to see if they remembered the state's capital city correctly.

These cards provide a great independent activity for students to work on learning the US states and capitals.

#austeacherBFR This is a set of task cards for Australia. They could also be used to play a game of SCOOT and the directions to play are included. The task cards or game are perfect for a Social Studies or Geography lesson on Australia. Want to create aesthetic, useful task cards for your class, but just don't have the time to create a template? This pre-made, reusable template will help you save time. You can adapt these tasks cars to any social studies lesson. All you need is 24 questions and Microsoft Word, Photoshop, Adobe editor, or another program that will let you add graphics and text.

What are task cards?

They are great for the introduction and review of any subject. Post them around the room and have students on a timed rotation to visit each station/task card and complete it, giving students a time frame in which to do so.

This activity includes 16 task cards that are broken down into 4 levels or puzzle types, giving students a chance to practice nonfiction reading comprehension skills while actively decoding puzzles.

Lead your students to discover information about the 5 themes of geography by exploring it on their own before teaching or have them use it to review information. Students will answer questions that can be found directly in their reading passage, so there is no prior knowledge needed.

This lesson is easy enough for 5th graders to understand yet works well with students up to grade 12. Modifications can be made as needed.

Need a great activity for your South America study? These 24 task cards are a great way to both introduce the unit study or evaluate what students gained during the unit in a fun and interactive way. Not only is it fun, but it will get students moving around the room in an organized and timely manner, which will make the learning process fun and engaging.

Place these cards around the room and have students on a timed rotation. 24 pre-constructed task cards, a student answer sheet, and a teacher's key included. All you have to do, is print, cut, laminate if you wish, post in areas around the room, and let your students have fun learning. This a great, fun way to introduce and understand the causes and consequences, as well as the differences between immigration, emigration, & migration— Incorporates music and allows interaction through cooperative groups!

Students will enjoy listening to and analyzing a migration song. Incorporating music into the classroom increases understanding and interest in the subject—acts as a motivating factor. Students will then move into cooperative groups and will rotate stations where they will read and complete 6 different task cards. They will begin with a quick overview of American migration and move to migration trends and policies and end with the effects of immigration on the country of origin as well as the receiving country.

· The learner will comprehend the causes and effects on the receiving country and the country of origin.

· The learner will explore immigration laws throughout the world.

· The learner will understand historical migration trends throughout history.

Asia, in particular, faces some of the most severe consequences of climate change, including rising sea levels, more frequent and intense natural disasters, and changes in agricultural patterns. By teaching about the climate change crisis in Asia, students will learn about the specific challenges that people in this region face. Students will read about 10 effects of climate change on Asia and will work together to find solutions.

Many countries in Asia are already experiencing the effects of rising sea levels, which are putting millions of people at risk of flooding, displacement, and human disease. Not only are these geography warm-up activity bell ringers for the beginning of class great transitions to start class and get students mentally ready for class, but it's also a great way to work in time for state test prep activities without all the extra work**.** Many of the social studies test questions require students to read, examine, and analyze maps, charts, graphs, etc. I have used bell ringers for years and I have seen an increase in students' abilities to read maps, graphs, and charts. It's worth your time and theirs!

This second set of bell ringers asks students to use their class atlases to read maps, graphs, and charts such as map projections, climate maps, time zone maps, population pyramids, and more. Although they are specified for the first six weeks, they can be used at any time throughout the year. The atlas used for reference is the Rand McNally 6th Edition found on Amazon for $15 found here. But many atlases can be used and are more affordable here. If you use another atlas, simply modify each slide to reference the map or page in the atlas you are using. The questions can remain the same.

Many educators struggle with the task of figuring out how to start class each day or how to transition from concept to concept. A popular solution to these problems is the idea of the beginning of the class warm-up bellringers. These start-of-class activities benefit both students and teachers.

A bell ringer, often referred to as a warm-up activity or a do-now, is a short exercise or prompt given to students at the beginning of class. These activities are designed to capture students' attention, activate prior knowledge, and set the tone for the rest of the lesson.
