Students spent another two days creating a flowerpot collage artwork that showed similarities in color and patterns used to their drawing artwork. Students spent 1-2 class periods coloring (w/colored pencils) the insects and other objects inside their jar, plus, the background around the jar. Students were asked to draw 15-30 large flowers all over their paper. Students were allowed to paint the flowers with any colors they wanted. When the artwork was dry students outlined all the flowers with a black sharpie marker. Some collage skills were added to the assignment at the end of the unit when students needed to cut/glue down strips of construction paper to the bottom of the Final Copy Field of Flowers, to look like fence posts. Students traced a large lid/container on Final Copy paper. Students used a ruler/yardstick to make straight lines: vertical, horizontal, and diagonal. Students made some lines thin and some lines very thick. Students traced everything with a black sharpie marker. After drawing these lines, students outlined them with a crayon. Students painted each section with a different color of watercolor paints.
