This resources helps students come up with weather words, through brainstorming and through the story Bringing The Rain to Kapiti Plain by Verna Aardema. The classifying plants file folder activity allows students to label the parts of plants - cells, stem, roots, and leaves. Students will also match the following vocabulary words and their meanings with pictures: parallel veins and netted veins found in leaves, soft stems and woody stems, smooth leaf margins and jagged leaf margins found on leaves, waxy texture, smooth texture, and rough texture found on leaves, and taproots and fibrous roots. Students can do this independently, with support, or with a partner.

This fun 90-minute lesson is perfect for Grades 1–4. It helps students learn all about the weather in a simple and engaging way.
