FRENCH PHONEMES ACTIVITY-SOR- CV Blending-Conscience Phonémique- Phonics
By La trousse de Madame
The French Phonics Mats are ideal for the K-2 French learner who is just starting to blend sounds in French. Use the NO PREP individual mat cards for centres, additional one-on-one resources for small group instruction, or for students with an IEP who engaged in strategies from the Science of Reading. Ideal for task bins as they can be interchanged daily or weekly depending on your student programming.
What to do:
1. Copy and laminate the sheets. Cut out individual task cards on the left and then Velcro mini dot Velcro to the back of each consonant card. Add a Velcro to the Phonics Mat.
Put the mats at a centre with a whiteboard marker and an eraser (I use socks from the Dollar Store…much cheaper and they last forever!)
2. You can also use this resource by simply laminating each sheet and using a whiteboard marker to make CV sound blends.
Science of Reading:
These cards are aligned with sounds being taught in any Science of Reading aligned curriculum. They are set up for student success based on the research for increasing reading fluency and building student confidence in the classroom!
Once you have established the strategies for identifying sounds, initial sounds, and blending sounds, segmenting sounds, students will be able to use these self-driven Phonics Mats on their own. What a great way to build learning autonomy!
Who can use this resource:
Teachers who are just getting accustomed to using strategies from the Science of Reading can use these simple French Phonics Mats to open up independent practice, small group evaluation, or up on a digital screen for whole group instruction and reading practice.
Make a set and send them home with students to build fluency in reading and confidence in reading strategies.
Phonics Mats are designed to build a number of common French sounds and get more challenging as they go on.
What grade level:
I personally use these mats with Grade 1 and Grade 2 students in French Immersion. I feel confident that students from K-3 will find these most useful and teachers can come back to the phonics mats with any students who may be experiencing challenges in their French reading skills and those with an IEP.
Phonics mats are ideal for a fun centre for Senior Kindergarten and the students will be thrilled to see them used once they graduate to Grade 1.

FRENCH ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES-Social Studies- My Heritage- ONTARIO GR. 1
By La trousse de Madame
Nos Roles et Responsabilites French Immersion Ontario Grade 1 Social Studies
This fun and engaging activity packet is meant to supplement your studies of Heritage and Identity for French Immersion students in Ontario. The vibrant images and easy to use French language tags are great to get students talking in French. Open up with large group activities by placing each item on the Venn diagram and discuss the roles we have at home and at school and those we share in both locations.
Students can plot their data on a diagram, a table, or with tally marks to integrate a number of other subjects. No matter how you decide to use this resource, I'm sure your students will enjoy it!
What to do with this resource:
Teachers can print images in original size or make a large poster sized Venn Diagram to allow students the immersive experience of hands-on learning too.
Watch as students identify their roles and responsibilities and grow in their understanding of how they fit into the world. How do our roles evolve over time? How do they change based on where we are? How can we show respect in all our actions and decisions?
What kind of activities can I do:
Students now have access to matching picture and word cards, flashcards, and tables to categorize and organize their ideas.
There are a variety of ways to use this resource to accompany your studies of Our Changing Roles and Responsibilities in the French Immersion Grade One classroom.
How to use this resource:
You could copy and laminate the pages for use as a learning centre or use the Venn diagram as a large poster by printing at 300% and using it as a whole group activity.
Activity cards include:
-faire la vaisselle
-nettoyer la table
-mettre la table
-faire le lavage
-cuisiner
-ranger les jouets
-utiliser l'ordinateur
-jouer tranquillement
-passer le balai
-lire silencieusement
-partager les materiaux
-lever la main avant de parler
-s'asseoir a son pupitre
-ecrire la classe
-preparer son sac a dos
Students can take turns coming up to the front of the class to place cards on the Venn Diagram to denote activities that happen at home, at school, or both at home and at school.
A great assessment tool for students in Grade 1 who are not ready to do written assessments to show comprehension.
Appropriate audience:
I use these posters in my French Immersion classroom with Grade 1 and Grade 2 students. I feel confident that they could be used for any grade from K-6

FRENCH Back to School ATTENTION GRABBERS - French Classroom Decor Posters
By La trousse de Madame
ATTENTION GRABBERS
In the French classroom, it can be difficult to find new and engaging ways to grab the attention of our students without falling back on the old standards of 'les mains sur la tete...'
I keep a list of new and fun ways of getting students attention in my notes on my phone and try them out with my students. I love it when they get to the point that they spontaneously answer back.
Here are the four posters I have up in my classroom. My students love them!
How to use this product:
1. Copy the resource with a colour printer
2. Or, print in Poster mode on your printer and get larger sized posters for your classroom
3. Laminate for year to year use
*****You will notice a line on the item between the rectangle and triangle shapes of colour. Please note, when I printed and many of my colleagues have printed at home and at school, all printers 'read' the colours as being one!
Who can use this resource:
This set of Attention Grabbers is great for students from JK to Grade 8 in the French Immersion or Core French setting. Educators are able to teach these quick and easy sayings at any Grade level.

French Phonics Pyramid Reading 2-Reading Fluency Cards-Science of Reading SOR
By La trousse de Madame
These NO PREP, easy to read decoding cards are ideal for the K-2 classroom in French immersion, Core French, or Modern Language setting. Aligns perfectly with the Science of Reading and can supplement any reading program. Foster a passion for French language acquisition with materials that engage and ignite a love of learning in your students.
Pyramid Reading Fluency Cards SET 2
These pyramid readers are a favourite of mine in the classroom! They are easy to print and insert into clear folder so students can be independent in minutes. These cards are great for making a quick learning centre, a great way to check reading fluency on the fly, or to do a deep dive with those that need the one-on-one attention.
What to do:
I make 4 copies of a few cards for centre activities, a few sets for a clear folder binder for ‘shoulder to shoulder, knee to knee partner reading, and a set of cards for a quick quiet reading session if we are getting too silly in class.
Once my students became independent with these reading cards, I made smaller versions and put them on a ring so students can quickly grab them when doing silent reading, editing their writing, or gathering ideas for a journal entry.
Sounds included in this resource:
an/en; on; ou; o/au/eau; gn; ui; eu; ouille; qu/c; è/ê
Science of Reading:
These cards aligned with sounds being taught in any Science of Reading aligned curriculum. They are set up for student success based on the research for increasing reading fluency and building student confidence in the classroom!
Vocabulary included:
Un enfant est sur le banc.
Angele prend le cerf-volant.
L’hérisson aime le melon.
Il ronronne quand il ronge le melon.
Lou le hibou joue dans la cours.
Renaud a les bottes dans l'eau.
Le petit champignon est mignon.
Elles se fuient sous le parapluie.
L'oiseau bleu veut chanter de son mieux.
La grenouille fouille dans la boue.
Jacques cache le bouquet.
Mon frère arrête la bête verte
How we use this in class:
I like to set up a variety of centres in my classroom once we are able to consolidate our learning. With concepts from the Science of Reading, we have looked at all the sounds present in the pyramid reading cards. I make copies of the cards and insert into plastic pocket pages that I keep in a binder. I place reading cards into the binder so they face both directions so students can sit across from each other. The students now know that they read each card that is in front of them, wait and listen while their partner reads, and then turn the page. Once they have read them all, they turn the binder and read all the alternate stories that their partner read. My students LOVE this activity and it builds their confidence for when they come to visit me at our small group table and we do our activities around these same sentences.
Effective ways for multiple uses of this resource:
I like to create resources that I can use in many different ways in my classroom. This one resource gets added to my centres:
-whole group reading
-small group reading
-partner reading
-quiet reading
-small group decoding and encoding
-find the sound activity
-writing prompt
-journal writing
-draw the story and label
-cloze sentences
-build a story from a sentence
Who can use this resource:
Teachers who are just getting accustomed to using strategies from the Science of Reading can use these simple texts to open up independent practice, small group evaluation, or up on a digital screen for whole group instruction and reading practice.

French Certificates End-of-Year-French Awards-Certificats fin de l’année-Awards
By La trousse de Madame
These end-of-year award certificates are conveniently in black and white for easy, no-prep, no expense printing. 30 eye catching awards in 2 different themes means there are 60 awards to choose. You can print on white paper, coloured paper, coloured cardstock, or have students colour them in themselves. My decision to do this is in response to so many teachers having strict colour printing budgets at their schools. I wanted to find an economical way of printing these, so teachers did not have to break the bank!
What to do:
Make copies of the awards that you would like to use, either by printing an entire set or by selecting the ones you want for printing.
Insert colour paper, white paper, or cardstock for easy printing
Fill in the child’s name that you would like to honour for the award along with date and your name.

Jour de la Terre-French Earth Day Writing and Craft-French Writing-Écriture
By La trousse de Madame
A creative and fun way to get students writing in French.
I created this resources out of a need in my class to do quick and simple Earth Day activities that are easy, fun, and engaging and gets them thinking of ways that they can help the Earth.
Once I got started creating these cute little activities, I thought it might be fun for students to make their favourite little craft. They just love these ‘surprise’ crafts when they can open them up and see all the writing inside!
How we use this in class:
Students are encouraged to write about the ways they can protect the planet, how to recycle old materials, how reusing is a great way of upcycling something that you are giving a new purpose for and how that can help the earth to heal.
What is included in this resource?
I have included step-by-step instructions on how to put it all together for students to build their own concept of the craft.
Included are:
-4 x Colour versions of the world that may be cut and pasted with and without the googly eyes
-4 x Black and white versions of the Earth that may also be colour cut and pasted for students to build their craft.
-1 long writing portion to develop a good set of affirmations on how we will help the earth

A fun cumulative activity for students to see just how much they have learned all year long!
How to use this resource:
I make booklets by copying the pages by multiples of 2 on my printer. This is very easy to do.
1. Click print
2. Select the printer and number of copies, then search down midway and click the MULTIPLE bar
3. Select 2 so you get 2 pages per printed copy
4. You can choose to bring double sided or single sided but I prefer single sided for the little ones (you can always take out the page if they make a mistake…harder to do if they also filled out the entire other side…fewer tears for me, the better!)
5. Staple into booklets. I stapled along the binder spirals so they looked more authentic
OR
1. You can print one image per page and make the books bigger
Who can use this resource:
I used this resource with my Grade 1 and 2 students at the end of the year to celebrate our accomplishments and to create a book of our favourite memories. Students loved brainstorming ideas for the various pages. It's amazing what they remember and appreciate from the past ten months of school.
Happy memories, big successes, and all the friends made during our year are worth treasuring. I hope you love filling out all your class memories!

By La trousse de Madame
Writing prompts are the fast and easy No-Prep way of adding to your K-2 writing program. Aligned with the Science of Reading, students engage decoding and encoding skills. The vocabulary used in this resource follows a progression recommended by many school boards and is in lock step with what is being promoted by IDAPEL and ONLit websites for teaching French language in today's classrooms.
Once you have a grasp on all the simple sounds in French, the magic happens when you get students writing. They don't even notice that all the words used are from their very own memory banks and are all decodable words from past lessons.
Who can use this resource:
Teachers who are just getting accustomed to using strategies from the Science of Reading can use these simple texts to open up independent practice, small group evaluation, or up on a digital screen for whole group instruction and reading practice.
Make a set and send them home with students to build fluency in writing and confidence in writing strategies.
The prompts are designed to offer many variations for students to use their imaginations and to build confidence in their own writing.
Correction sheet is handy for use with a substitute as they can confidently assess students and command the lesson even when they are not assured of their French skills.
What grade level:
I personally use these texts with Grade 1 and Grade 2 students in French Immersion. Science of Reading:
These prompts are aligned with sounds being taught in any Science of Reading aligned curriculum. They are set up for student success based on the research for increasing writing proficiency and building student confidence in the classroom!
Once you have established the strategies for identifying sounds, initial sounds, and blending sounds, segmenting sounds, students will be able to use these self-driven passages on their own. What a great way to build learning autonomy!

French Directed Drawing Les Fournitures de Classe-Dessin Dirigé-Art visuel
By La trousse de Madame
This fabulous and engaging K-2 activity will gradually allow young learners to enjoy drawing and creating fantastic art pieces. Step-by-step instructions allow each student to create classroom materials drawings during whole group instruction or independent learning time. Students can then add vocabulary, sentences, or a short idea to describe their object. This fun and exciting activity grows as students grow throughout the year.
I create a practice art notebook for students where each piece gets glued into their book as they develop mastery. The added creative writing element means they learn to talk about art in a French too!
How to prepare this resource:
Make a copy of each page and distribute to students. You can arrange to have them all done in a booklet form or, as I do, I make copies at the beginning of the year and add pages to a ‘cahier d’art’ for students to work on at their own pace once we have done a few as a group.
Students love the independence of working on the art piece on their own and as language production develops, they even go back to their first drawings to add details and sentences to describe their work!
When to use this resource in the classroom:
These activities can be used from the first week of school. Following instructions, mastering step-by-step directions can start at any time during the school year. Students will love using these pages as their confidence grows as each step shows dotted line additions that add a version of what each step looks like.
As language develops during the year, students can add details, descriptions, or story starters to prompt creative writing.
I hope your students enjoy learning to draw these classroom materials!
Appropriate audience:
I use these posters in my French Immersion classroom with Grade 1 and Grade 2 students. I feel confident that they could be used for any grade from K-6

French Halloween Sentence Building Cards-Writing -Écriture de l'Halloween
By La trousse de Madame
French Halloween Sentence Building Cards are a great way to get students in Grades 1 through 3 to get started writing stories. Students delight in creating unique and funny sentence patterns using a 1-2-3 step strategy. Students use cards marked ’1’ to choose the subject of their sentence, cards with ‘2’ are the action words, and cards with location words are tagged ‘3’. Put together the subject, verb, and location cards and make a new sentence each time.
What to do:
Make a class set of the cards, laminate, and cut.
Place a few copies of the 1-2-3 writing template sheet into clear pockets or give students an individual worksheet to work on.
Watch students delight in creating new and unique sentences as they build confidence in their French writing skills.
Vocabulary included: le fantôme, la chauve-souris, le chat, la souris, le garçon, la fille, la sorcière, la momie, le vampire, le Frankenstein, le loup-garou, marche, vole, court, saute, danse, mange, dans la maison hantée, dans le cercueil, vers la lune, dans la botte
How to prepare this resource:
Make a few copies of the template page, insert into clear pockets, dry erase pocket, or use as individual worksheets and watch as the giggles get started. Make a copy of the story cards, laminate, and cut. My students LOVE these activities. I cannot make them fast enough.
There is a little cutting and laminating involved with this activity but many use clear folders to make your job easier!
Perfect for a sub binder, emergency plans, or as a back up activity when you happen to have a few minutes to spare. A great set to have on hand as an extra centre activity at Halloween time. Your K-3 Immersion students will love them!
When to use this resource in the classroom:
These activity sheets are Halloween themed and can be used for the entire month of October and even into the week following Halloween. Students love using them and they can be helpful for follow-up assessment. Just in time for progress reporting period!

I feel confident that students from K-3 will find these most useful and teachers can come back to the texts with any students who may be experiencing challenges in their French reading skills. Core French teachers will be sure to add the resource to their repertoire for Grades 4 to 6 as they learn to read and write at the Junior level.
Science of Reading:
These texts are aligned with sounds being taught in any Science of Reading aligned curriculum. They are set up for student success based on the research for increasing reading fluency and building student confidence in the classroom!
Once you have established the strategies for identifying sounds, initial sounds, and blending sounds, segmenting sounds, students will be able to use these self-driven passages on their own. What a great way to build learning autonomy!

French Christmas Sentence Building Cards-Writing and Phonics-Écriture de Noël
By La trousse de Madame
Students delight in creating unique and funny sentence patterns using a 1-2-3 step strategy. Students use cards marked ’1’ to choose the subject of their sentence, cards with ‘2’ are the action words, and cards with location words are tagged ‘3’. Put together the subject, verb, and location cards and make a new sentence each time. Teaching writing in your Grade 1-3 French Immersion class has never been easier.
What to do:
Make a class set of the cards, laminate, and cut.
Place a few copies of the 1-2-3 writing template sheet into clear pockets or give students an individual worksheet to work on.
Watch students delight in creating new and unique sentences as they build confidence in their French writing skills.
Vocabulary included: La Mère Noël, Le Père Noël, Le garçon, La fille, Le renne, Le nain, descend, porte, vole, place, grimpe, mange, une boule, un ange, un cadeau, un sac de jouets, un bas, une étoile, un biscuit, un pain d’épice, une canne de Noël, une chandelle, un chocolat chaud, des lumières, dans la cheminée, dans le bas, dans le ciel, dans le traineau, dans le foyer, dans l’arbre
A great set to have on hand as an extra centre activity at Xmas time. Your K-3 Immersion students will love them!
When to use this resource in the classroom:
These activity sheets are Christmas themed and can be used for the entire month of December and even into the week following Halloween. Students love using them and they can be helpful for follow-up assessment. Just in time for progress reporting period!
I hope your students enjoy learning their vowel sounds and exploring phonemic awareness with a Christmas Theme!
Appropriate audience:
I use these activities in my French Immersion classroom with Grade 1 and Grade 2 students. I feel confident that they could be used for any grade from Grade One to Grade Three.

***** Extremely satisfied
This has been a fun way for students to review their letters. I love that each page gives students an opportunity to write the letter, find the letter and find the sounds. Merci!
