Less than $5 1st Grade Interactive Notebooks (by date, oldest first)

Are your students having difficulty learning and identifying coins and their values? Mine were, so I worked to develop this interactive notebook and PowerPoint slides & I am thrilled with their progress!

The materials in this packet are developed to use in conjunction with one another. Use the powerpoint to introduce coins, then use the notebook to provide practice with each concept. I have also included a parent letter and a 2 page assessment to provide you with valuable pre/post learning data.

Notebook - The notebook is in black and white. Students are encouraged to color pages to reinforce the colors of coins and make the book more "theirs". Most pages require students to make interactive activities with simple cuts & paste directions. Pages that require more directions (accordion counting, and pocket with flap), are towards the end of the book.

The notebook features practice in the following areas for identification and use of the penny, nickel, dime and quarter:

•Sorting – Color and sort coins into a jar

•Identification – Identify front, back, value, and information about the penny, nickel, dime and quarter.

•Counting by 1’s, 5’s, 10’s, 25’s: 2 activities! Students will identify how much & use coins to make requested amount

•Accordion counting support

•Comparison – Flippable pages show how much $1 is in penny, nickel, dime & quarter

•Making purchases with coins – Select the item to purchase and place in pocket.

Three adaptive books with a Thanksgiving theme! Read to your students with these interactive books about the Thanksgiving Day Parade, yummy Thanksgiving food & things we can be thankful for. These books require some prep work; however, once made, you can use them year after year!  

Book 1: Thanksgiving Day Parade

Students will listen to a short story about parade. The book has colorful pictures (but easy on that printer!) showing students what they can expect to see. They will see a big city, news reporters, big balloons, floats, bands & end the parade with you know who...Santa!

Book 2: Yummy Food

This story uses a repetitive text ("I like") and identifies the food. Traditional Thanksgiving foods are included: pumpkin pie, stuffing, apple pie, turkey, cranberry jelly, mashed potatoes, & dinner rolls

Book 3: I am Thankful

A variety of activities are represented in this book. What might you be thankful for? Pets, teachers, family, favorite foods, games, homes and birthdays.

This set of notebooking pages and worksheets are perfect to help students have fun and engaging ways to practice vocabulary and spelling words. These interactive pages can be used with any set of words.

These pages are suitable for any elementary aged classroom.

Included in this packet:

Pages 2-9 – Flip a Flap notebooking pages – These pages are available with primary lines and straight lines. Students will write their vocabulary or spelling word on the line, then open the flap to draw a picture of the word or write a definition for the word. These pages are made full sized. Print at 90% for spiral notebooks and at 80% for composition books. Pages are available for 6, 8, 10 and 12 words.

Page 10 – Stamp it! Notebook page – This page is already sized for a composition notebook and will work just as well in a spiral notebook. Students will write the word on the line and use stamps to spell the word. This page accommodates 5 words.

Page 11 – Cut and Paste Notebook page - Stamp it! Notebook page – This page is already sized for a composition notebook and will work just as well in a spiral notebook. Students will use magazine letter cut outs to spell the word after writing it on the line. This page accommodates 5 words.

Page 12 – Write It, Draw It, Use It page – This page is not designed to go in a notebook, but can be cut out to be used as such. This page accommodates 5 words.

Pages 13-14 – These are full sized versions of page 10-11. They are designed to be used as stand alone worksheets.

Pages 15-22 – These pages are designed to be folded to create a flip flap affect without the need for a notebook. Simple print, fold on the solid line and cut on the dotted lines.

Use these notebooking pages to record what you are learning about plants. Cover concepts like parts of a flower, plants we eat and what plants need to live and grow.

The pages can fit inside a spiral notebook or composition book.

There are three different concepts covered in these pages:

1. Parts of a Flower - This page covers flower, stem, leaf and root. Use the flower provided or have students draw their own to go under the flaps.

2. We Eat Plants - This page covers all parts of plants and the foods we can eat from each part. Students draw or find pictures in magazines/grocery fliers to put under each flap.

3. What do plants need? - This page shows plants need air, water, food and light to grow. Use magazines to cut out pictures or draw pictures to represent each under the flaps.

This is an adorable and fun Mother's Day Card Craft with interactive flaps. (I have also included Grandma pages for students living with grandmother.) The students finish the sentences by writing under each flap about their moms/grandmas. There are also several different choices for the topper - boys and girls. The students draw the features on the faces and color all the artwork. Use the pictures to see how to assemble the card. This is a packet of THREE scavenger hunt (write the room) activities. The first is classifying nouns as person, place or thing. The second is finding words that begin with each letter of the alphabet. The last is differentiating between contractions and compound words. Word cards are included which can be laminated and hung around the room. My students love using clipboards to walk around the room and find the words! I also added in a couple of FREEBIE interactive notebook pages on nouns and verbs.

This resource includes 20 practice worksheets that introduce ABC order. There are TEN full-page worksheets and TEN with four on a page to save paper. I use these as a quick morning work practice. Great for reinforcement!
