This resource is a great book companion to “The Color Monster.” Students will have the opportunity to engage in four different activities. 

Activities included: 

1. Writing prompt: Students will identify how they’re feeling and why.

A "Pocket" Full of Kindness - An SEL Activity that focuses on kindness and the idea that you can take it with you wherever you go and "pull it right out of your back pocket" as the saying goes!! This activity is great for younger elementary students who are getting an introduction to all things kindness and all of the different ways that they can show kindness to others! I don't know about you but sometimes I work better with a reference sheet for lessons. I created this quickie template for the Reading Street Intervention program- My SideWalks. I teach in a Resource type setting and don't always teach my own groups. This reference sheet is helpful when I have aides that need to step in to teach. This isn't an ordinary CVC word list. This list organizes these CVC words into two groups. Words that begin with continuous sounds and words that begin with stop sounds.

You will want to use words with continuous sounds to support beginning and struggling readers.

This is a great introduction to teaching fluency while still working on the important skills students need to become fluent readers! This resource is no prep and easy to use!

This bookmark resource provides you with 5 quick tasks to practice. It includes isolating beginning, middle, and ending sounds and blending and segmenting sounds. There is a small list of words provided so that you don't have to think them up. Keep this small bookmark in your purse, on a clipboard, on your lanyard, or anywhere that you can quickly grab and go!

"Caught Ya Being Respectful" is a fun and engaging activity that not only gets students talking about being respectful and what that looks like, but it also encourages them to make connections of people (that they know and often admire!) that are showing respect around them as well!
