This is a creative and engaging intervention based on Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TFCBT) principles to support students to explore Domestic Violence.

This mini-lesson explores the following key areas:

- What is Domestic Violence and examples?

- Learning about the symbol of Domestic Violence (purple ribbon)

- Exploring fault/blame mentality

- Exploring Secrets

- Reflective Questions (feelings, thoughts, what if and what would you do questions?

- Exploring what you would do if you were not believed or listened too

- Your “Helping Hand” – exploring those who are in their support system

- Safety Planning (what children can do in an emergency and calling for help in an emergency)

NOTE - The purpose of this resource is to support children’s understanding of this topic to help them keep safe. Education helps to keep our children safe and work towards reducing violence and abuse in the community. At All Therapy resources we are devoted to increasing awareness of all aspects of children's safety, particularly that of personal safety and protective behaviours within Family Violence Systems.

This resource is more question and reflective based as opposed to psych educative. This resource has been created with a trauma-informed framework in mind to ensure that regardless of the student audience the questions can be utilized as either a foundation on which to either ascertain current knowledge or to ascertain thoughts and feelings on the subject matter. This Lesson Plan or Scope and Sequence was created for special education or life skills classes. Each lesson has three levels that are vertically aligned to provide access for ALL students to the standards, the leveled activities are for guided or independent practice. The units are set up in two-week increments and include two whole group lessons with links to videos or songs that align with the unit of study. Creative Intervention to support anxious children to let go of their worries with the help of their worry tree.

This project is a creative way for children to identify and acknowledge their anxieties. Sometimes we all carry around worries. They might be about school, home, friendships or even changes in our life. This activity encourages children to think about their worries and put them on their own worry tree. They can write down all of their worries and put them on the tree so that they don’t need to carry these worries around with them anymore. When the worries have been placed on the tree, it opens up discussion around strategies and ways that they can cope with that worry.

There are a total of 72 “Someone Said” Cards which all include a variety of statements for students to discuss and reflect upon. These statements elicit a number of emotions in which the student is encouraged to identify and record. This is a great exercise to also explore con-current emotions where two or more emotions exist together and not in isolation to each other. This is a fundamental skill for emotional literacy and development. These are great cards to explore social awareness, emotional literacy, empathy, compassion and understanding.

The student may require some reflective questioning should they need prompting as to the feelings and emotions from the scenarios.
