These gameboards are "closed" gameboards. You can make these work in your favor by setting up the guidelines ahead of time. Students can continue to play round and round the board until the time is up. Put a small pile of tokens such as cubes in the center and they can collect one for each lap they make if you want a way to keep score. Or, you can state that the games are over after a player has made 5 rounds, or however you choose.

Let's go fishing for letters! Go Fish helps to teach students the alphabet in a fun and engaging way. This game will teach letter recognition, visual discrimination, memory skills, color recognition, and fine motor skills too.

On your turn choose the top card from the pile of cards. Then go fishing in the pond for the matching card. You have two chances on each turn to find your fish. When you find the match, set them aside in a pile to count at the end of the game.

Keep fishing and taking turns until all the fish in the pond find their match. When all the card pairs have been matched, the player with the most cards wins!

If your students are learning about ending sounds, then this game is the perfect addition to your center or small group time. This phonics and literacy game helps students recognize and match words with the same ending sound by using pictures. There are several different game boards that cover all major single consonant ending sounds. Directions to make: If you want to make all four games, print pages 3-18 on card stock, cut out and laminate. You will also need to print pages 4-9 and pages 11-15 out twice. Directions for single player: Give the student one hexagon game board. Give the student the square cards that correspond to the ending sounds on their board. Allow student to sort the pictures around the game board, matching their ending sounds. Directions for multiple players: Put a hexagon game board in the middle of the students. Give each student an equal number of cards that have corresponding ending sounds. Students take turns matching their cards to the correct spot.
