BACK TO SCHOOL PHONICS GAMES - SILENT E GAMES CVCE is a set of 6 CVCe gameboards with a September Back to School theme. You'll have games for these skills: long a, long i, long o, long u (yoo), long u (oo) and a mixed game. 6 games in color and 6 in B&W. Print & Go, just add a die.

These gameboards are "closed" gameboards. You can make these work in your favor by setting up the guidelines ahead of time. Students can continue to play round and round the board until the time is up. Put a small pile of tokens such as cubes in the center and they can collect one for each lap they make if you want a way to keep score. Or, you can state that the games are over after a player has made 5 rounds, or however you choose.

Game cards include pre-primer, primer, first grade, and second grade Dolch sight words, each marked for easy differentiation based on level. Download, print, laminate, and cut the cards and spinner. Students will spin and land on a number (one or two to practice as many words as possible). Some spaces say "draw 2." That means the student will draw and read two cards. Dots and Boxes is a low to no prep activity that gets students practicing reading and writing their short vowel words along with strategizing on how best to create boxes.

Students take turns connecting dots until a box is formed. The student who drives the last line, making the square, claims the spot. They then write the word beneath the player they are. The student with the most words at the end wins. For added fun, there are blank spaces where students can write their short vowel words.
