Where is the present? This Christmas sight word game is great for students who are practicing sight word recognition and beginning reading skills. This game can be used in a pocket chart or on a table top for an early education classroom.

What is Included:

• Sight word cards for the all 200 sight words.
• Present cards for hiding

The cards are available in two formats, 6 to a page and 4 to a page to accommodate different sized pocket charts.

Ways to Use:

• small group game
• whole class game
• circle time game
• student led literacy center
• one on one instruction to target specific sight words for struggling students

How to Play:

Where's the Present is a game for centers or whole group instruction where a present is hidden behind a Christmas tree. A poem is chanted where the student(s) must say the sight word they think the present is behind. Once guessed, the sight word is removed. If the present is behind the Christmas tree, then the present must be hidden again to play further. If the present is not behind the Christmas tree, then the poem is chanted again with a new sight word.

This Reader's Theater is a companion activity to the book “There's Nothing to Do!” by Dev Petty. Two other books in this series are "I Don't Want to Be A Frog" and “I Don't Want to Be Big”. My students absolutely loved this book and I want to make a companion activity. It will enable the children to enjoy the story even more as well as increase reading fluency and speaking skills. This reader's theater is perfect for your class anytime of the year.

About the Book

Young Frog learns an unexpected lesson about how NOT to be bored. He tries to get help from Cat, Owl, Pig, and a girl Frog.

This reader’s theater is 4 pages long. There are two version included in this reader's theater. The first version is for three students - Child, Adult, and Other Animals. The other version is for 7 students - Child, Adult, Rabbit, Girl Frog, Cat, Owl and Pig.

Use this activity to sequence the events in There was an Old Lady who Swallowed a Turkey. Each event is pictured on a turkey feather that, when completed, creates an adorable turkey that sequences the story. Print on cardstock to make it more durable or mat it on a large piece of construction paper. Students will color and cut out the turkey feathers and body, glue them together, and have a great "craftivity" that tells what happens in this adorable book.
