Kind Action vs Unkind Action - An Interactive SEL Activity

"Kind or Trash" gives a fun new outlook on discussing kind vs unkind actions for younger elementary students. While the discussion is great, this activity also gets them up and moving and looking forward to their turn! This activity had my classes engaged through the entire lesson and it created great conversation as well! The basket and recycling bin is a great visual for students as they are recognizing kind vs unkind actions.

Discussing Emotions (Session #2)

The Discussion Game! Students remember and discuss how they have handled emotional situations in the past. Game Rules: One at a time, students pick a card. They tell a story based on what color card they choose. If they chose: Yellow chameleon, they tell a story about a time they had joy, when they were happy. Blue chameleon, tell a story about a time they felt sad. Red chameleon, a time they were angry. Green chameleon, when they were disgusted. Orange chameleon, a time they were surprised. Purple, a time they were fearful. If they pick a chameleon with no color, they can tell a story about any emotion they desire. I hope your students love this! This is now part of a bundle! Getting to Know You Question Cards - Ocean Themed Icebreaker Activities

Here’s How I Like to Play:
Place upside down in a pile (or spread out across a table). One at a time, students “fish” for a card, read their catch out loud and then answer the question written on the card. If they choose a Take the Bait Card (worm with no written question), they get to tell the group a fun fact about themselves.
For a twist, have students “fish” for a Creature Question Card and ask the person to their right to answer the question that is written. If they choose a Take the Bait Card with no written question, they get to make up and ask a question of their choice.
Enjoy getting to know your students better as you play and converse with these cute ocean-themed getting-to-know-you question cards.
