Loud vs. Soft Lesson Using Quiet as a Mouse and Suki The Very Loud Bunny

This lesson combines both books to demonstrate loud and soft sounds. Begin by talking about various sounds that can be made and then introduce "Quiet as a Mouse". Have the students quietly chant along as the mouse grows more frustrated that no one will play with it. Then go on to "Suki The Very Loud Bunny" to demonstrate loud sounds. Have the children move and play along with the chant. Use the rhythm and beat chart for the first book to explain rhythm vs. steady beat, as well as show that rests get a beat as well.
