As students are learning the difference between singular and plural nouns, coming up with sentences using those nouns is our next step. My students love booklets of any kind that they can refer back to. Once they have come up with their sentences, they will include pictures that they print and cut out, draw pictures freehand, or find pictures in a magazine that they can add to each page of the booklet to connect with what they wrote about. This gives students the opportunity to connect what they are learning about in the classroom with their own personal interests. The Berenstain Bears Halloween is Sweet comprehension questions product is useful for students that read the book and are getting ready for Halloween. The questions are placed in order with the book. Students can answer these questions as the book is read or after they have finished reading the book or listening to the book. While reading this book and answering these questions, students will learn about the traditions that people participate in when they celebrate Halloween, how to stay safe on Halloween when going trick or treating, why parents/guardians make rules to follow, and the importance of being kind.
Students can answer these short answer questions and multiple choice questions as they read book independently or they can use the text for lookbacks once the book is finished. Students will then have 12 journal prompts that they can answer. They can cut out the heart template and make a booklet with their journal prompts if they wish.
