Writing a Friendly Letter - Example and Template

Writing a friendly letter is a fun and interesting project for students when they are writing to someone they know or just met and want to know more about. Students will learn why we write friendly letters, who we write friendly letters to, what to include in a friendly letter, how you will publish your friendly letter, rules to follow when writing a friendly letter, tips that will help when writing a friend letter, different closings you can use in your friendly letter, 2 examples of friendly letters are included in this packet and 5 friendly letter templates, addressing an envelope, a list of state abbreviations, and street suffixes and their abbreviations are included in this product. After examples of the friendly letter and addressing an envelope are reviewed, students will answer review comprehension questions to ensure they understand how to write a friendly letter and address an envelope.

Writing a fairy tale can be a fun and interesting project for your students. This product provides students with the opportunity to use creativity while writing their fairy tale and share it with their peers!
This product includes information to share with your students about what a fairy tale is, why do we write a fairy tale, challenges characters may face in fairy tales, who could be your audience when writing a fairy tale, rules to follow when writing a fairy tale, possible options students can choose to publish their fable, using a strong opening compared to a weak opening in the first paragraph of your fairy tale, tips that are useful to write a great fairy tale, a layout of the fairy tale is provided, an example of a fairy tale is included in this product that includes an idea template, planning the fairy tale with more in depth ideas, and an example of a fairy tale rough draft is included in this product.
After the example is read, students can answer 6 comprehension questions about the fairy tale. Students will are also provided with a template that includes an area for 3 fairy tale ideas, and once they choose their fairy tale, they can add onto their fairy tale using the idea chart. Templates are included after the example along with a rough draft template and reminder checklist so students remember to go back and check their work once it is completed.

Haunted House Story Example, Graphic Organizer, and Template

Writing a story about a haunted house can be a fun and interesting project for your students especially around Halloween. This product provides students with the opportunity to use creativity while writing their story about a haunted house and share it with their peers! Students can also write their story with a peer which encourages students to communicate and work with one another.
This product includes information to share with your students about what a story is, why we write a story, who is your audience when writing a story, what is your purpose when writing a story, how will the story about a haunted house be published, and rules to follow when writing a story about a haunted house.
An example of a story about a haunted house is included in this product. After the example is read, students will be provided with a template that includes an area for 3 haunted house story ideas, and once they choose which story about a haunted house they will write about, they can add onto their story using the idea chart.
Following the example, templates are provided rough draft template, 1 template that allows for students to write down three story ideas that include what happened in the story, who are the characters, and how does the story end. One the 2nd template, students can write down three brief summaries about haunted house story ideas. On the 3rd template, students can write down two brief summaries about haunted house story ideas if the template that includes 3 story ideas is too overwhelming for students. Students will then have a rough draft template that can be filled in. This includes the title of their haunted house story, the characters, the setting, and the plot. Students can then use the rough draft template to write their rough draft. Once students have edited their rough draft, they can use the final draft template that is included or they can type it. A reminder checklist is provided after the rough draft and final draft to remind students to reread their work to check for any mistakes.

Writing about How to Solve a Problem is an important writing project that gives students the time to write about a problem they had to solve or are currently trying to solve. This product sets the foundation for having students learn about simple and advanced problem solving skills that so many students. Once they are finished with their masterpiece, they can share it with their friends and family members. This packet includes information to share with your students about why we write to solve a problem, what steps to follow when writing to solve a problem - state the problem, ask questions, come up with a list of resources, summarize the actions taken to solve the problem, and a solution which shares the decision that was made to solve the problem. This packet also includes an example showing the process that is used to write to solve a problem. Using this guide, students will write and complete a simple or complex written assignment about how to solve a problem. An example of a completed graphic organizer, an example of written assignment that shows how to write to solve a problem, graphic organizer template, and two rough draft /final draft templates are included with this packet as well.

Special Person Craft for Mother's Day Father's Day and Grandparent's Day

This special person writing activity and craft allows students to create a meaningful gift for Mother's Day, Father's Day or Grandparent's Day. This simple craft and writing project is sure to delight the special person in the child's life.
How to Make:
To create the writing aspect of this activity, students will use the brainstorming ideas page to write down reasons they love their special person or when they do something the child loves. The student then gets to choose some of their best ideas to write on their heart craft. After writing their sentences, students can decorate their parent gift any way they choose. Students may choose to cut out their craft and glue it to some colored construction paper or card stock.
This packet includes several variations for different things a child may call their special person. There is also a blank craft for the student to write their special name.

This craft and writing activity are very easy to set up. Students simply need their craft template, a brainstorming ideas page, a writing utensil for the writing section, and crayons, markers, or colored pencils to decorate their craft. Scissors and glue are only needed if the child wishes to mount their craft to colored card stock or construction paper.
