Deserted Island Intro to Economics Game

By Hindsight Academy

Play a fun dice rolling, team building, island exploring, interactive game with students that help them learn about the concepts of scarcity and decision-making!

Students will pick items, decide how to spend their day, and compete to see who can survive the longest and build the most things. But beware, sometimes exploring the island won't get them the results they want.

I hope you enjoy this version of the classic deserted island Economics Scarcity game. I love board games and D&D so I wanted to include some of those concepts and have the choices that students make much more meaningful.

The mechanics of the game are built around a regular six-sided die so that it is easily accessible by everyone.

Includes a welcome page. How to play page. Rules page. Example round page. Trackers for the player and base along with their journal. A google form that walks them through their dice rolls. Island Map. And post activity questions.

Save lots of money while shopping using coupons. This colorful, cheerful binder organizes your coupons and makes it easier for you to find just the right coupon you are looking for while out shopping. Teach your students or children in your household the value of saving money by saving coupons. Create your own coupon binder by using baseball card holders that you can find at many dollar stores or office supply stores. Many kids can also help out with gathering coupons and cutting them out. Have your students write about ways they can help their family save money. There are a couple of writing prompts that you could use to have your students share ways that they can help their families save money. This does not necessarily mean just using coupons. It could mean saving money by turning off the lights when not in use, not taking long showers, or turning in cans for redemption. Some kids might write about a job they do such as a paper route, mowing the grass or shoveling snow. Some students might choose to discuss buying items on sale at the store and not demanding expensive name brand items."Older students can work on the total amount of savings from using coupons.
