Students respond to several statements that challenge or support their preconceived ideas about key concepts as well as their peers’ ideas. The Anticipation Guides can help structure meaningful conversations that reviews what students already know and engages them in critical thinking about the topic they will be exploring. The statements in the Anticipation Guides can spark some great discussions among students!! \x3Cstrong>This Anticipation Guide and Self-Assessment focuses on Body Language | Nonverbal Communication | Social Cues.\x3C/strong>\x3Cp>\x3Cstrong>You can use an Anticipation Guide:\x3C/strong>\x3Cp>✅ Before | After introducing new material to tap into prior knowledge.\x3Cp>✅ Before | After watching a film clip to gauge a reaction.\x3Cp>✅ Before | After reading a short text to begin a discussion.\x3Cp>✅ Before | After discussing a topic.\x3Cp>*******************************\x3Cp>\x3Cstrong>ANTICIPATION GUIDES\x3C/strong>\x3Cp>\x3Cstrong>There is ONE Anticipation Guide that comes in two different variations:\x3C/strong>\x3Cp>\x3Cstrong>▶️ Variation #1:\x3C/strong>\x3Cp>⭐ *Part 1: *The first section of the Anticipation Guide features a list of statements alongside columns labeled \"AGREE\" and \"DISAGREE.\" Students are tasked with reading each statement and marking either \"AGREE\" or \"DISAGREE\" based on their perspective.\x3Cp>⭐ *Part 2: *The second section of the Anticipation Guide prompts students to choose a statement from the list above and delve into its significance to them. They may reflect on how the statement connects to their own lives, share a personal experience related to it, or elaborate on their thoughts concerning its importance in greater detail.\x3Cp>**▶️ Variation #2: **This Anticipation Guide worksheet format includes a list of statements accompanied by columns for \"AGREE,\" \"DISAGREE,\" and \"COMMENTS.\" Students are instructed to read each statement and mark either \"AGREE\" or \"DISAGREE.\" They are then encouraged to elaborate on their thoughts or ideas regarding each statement in the designated \"COMMENTS\" column.\x3Cp>******************************\x3Cp>\x3Cstrong>SELF-ASSESSMENT\x3C/strong>\x3Cp>This resource includes a single \x3Cstrong>Body Language\x3C/strong> Self-Assessment. Students will use the body language - related statements to reflect on their understanding of nonverbal communication, evaluate their ability to interpret and respect others’ cues, and identify areas where they can improve. They will score the statements using the following scale: 2 for “Regularly,” 1 for “Occasionally,” and 0 for “Never.” They will use this self-assessment as a tool to help them identify areas for growth and improvement in their ability to read, interpret, and use body language effectively in everyday interactions.\x3Cp>This assessment also serves as a valuable tool for initiating conversations about the importance of nonverbal communication in building positive relationships, fostering empathy, and enhancing overall social skills. It encourages students to recognize how body language can influence perceptions, convey emotions, and support effective communication in both personal and professional settings.\x3Cp>*******************************\x3Cp>\x3Cstrong>Created by © Queen's Educational Resources | All Rights Reserved\x3C/strong>\x3Cp>\x3Cem>Your purchase includes one copy to be used in a single classroom. AP Spanish El cambio climatico Edpuzzle Podcast
By Specialty Spanish
Have you head the Notes in Spanish podcasts? Do you use Edpuzzle? For AP Spanish® Unit 6, I made an MP4 recording of the audio for the podcast about Climate Change, and uploaded it to Edpuzzle! I inserted multiple choice, auto-graded questions into the recording to help students to find the right spot in the podcast to find the answer. The auto-grading of Edpuzzle is not only a time-saver for teachers, but allows students to have feedback on what answers they got right or wrong!
If you've never heard the Notes in Spanish Podcasts before, here is some info!
From their website:
Who are we?
Ben Curtis and Marina Diez live in Madrid, Spain, and have been making Spanish-learning podcasts since 2005, with over 40 Million downloads since then.
We bring you real Spanish conversations on real-life topics, making you totally confident with your Spanish.
From me: Ben and Marina have Beginner and Intermediate level podcasts on a range of topics. I love listening to them! Ben is not a native speaker of Spanish, but Marina is! This married couple converses about every day, relevant topics, and helps students learn vocabulary and even slang expressions that are part of every day Spanish language!

Anticipation Guides are excellent tools that can be used before reading to activate students' prior knowledge and build curiosity about a new topic and/or to share ideas about key concepts. This Anticipation Guide and Self-Assessment focuses on Body Language | Nonverbal Communication | Social Cues.
You can use an Anticipation Guide:
✅ Before | After introducing new material to tap into prior knowledge.
✅ Before | After watching a film clip to gauge a reaction.
✅ Before | After reading a short text to begin a discussion.
✅ Before | After discussing a topic.

ANTICIPATION GUIDES
There is ONE Anticipation Guide that comes in two different variations:
▶️ Variation #1:
⭐ *Part 1: *The first section of the Anticipation Guide features a list of statements alongside columns labeled "AGREE" and "DISAGREE." Students are tasked with reading each statement and marking either "AGREE" or "DISAGREE" based on their perspective.
⭐ *Part 2: *The second section of the Anticipation Guide prompts students to choose a statement from the list above and delve into its significance to them. They may reflect on how the statement connects to their own lives, share a personal experience related to it, or elaborate on their thoughts concerning its importance in greater detail.
**▶️ Variation #2: **This Anticipation Guide worksheet format includes a list of statements accompanied by columns for "AGREE," "DISAGREE," and "COMMENTS." Students are instructed to read each statement and mark either "AGREE" or "DISAGREE." They are then encouraged to elaborate on their thoughts or ideas regarding each statement in the designated "COMMENTS" column.

SELF-ASSESSMENT
This resource includes a single Body Language Self-Assessment. Students will use the body language - related statements to reflect on their understanding of nonverbal communication, evaluate their ability to interpret and respect others’ cues, and identify areas where they can improve. They will score the statements using the following scale: 2 for “Regularly,” 1 for “Occasionally,” and 0 for “Never.” They will use this self-assessment as a tool to help them identify areas for growth and improvement in their ability to read, interpret, and use body language effectively in everyday interactions.
This assessment also serves as a valuable tool for initiating conversations about the importance of nonverbal communication in building positive relationships, fostering empathy, and enhancing overall social skills. It encourages students to recognize how body language can influence perceptions, convey emotions, and support effective communication in both personal and professional settings.

1950s Consumer Sears Catalog Simulation
By Sarah Austin
The year is 1956. You & your partner have taken advantage of new economic conditions & purchased a suburban home. Upon moving to the suburbs, you find you need to fill your home with clothes & furniture.
Use the Sears catalog provided to fill your home. The average monthly income in the USA in 1955 was $360. Let’s say you & your partner have been saving, and have a savings account of $600. The mortgage payment on your home is $60 per month, & let's say you use $40 per month for groceries. That leaves you with $500 to spend for the month!
Fill out the provided order sheet with the products you want to buy, and their prices. Do not spend more than $500, because then you will end up in debt! Beware–life events and circumstances happen, so adjust accordingly!
