What is a Surd? This is a surprisingly slippery topic. As a teacher or tutor, we might have an understanding of what one is, but there are a lot of loopholes, traps and exceptions. This poster helps! We have found in our research that explanations of Surds often omit certain pieces of important information in order to generate a simpler understanding, only for the student to be told that there are some exceptions to the rules. This poster therefore aims to set a firm grounding on which to build an understanding of surds without having to navigate through the maze of exceptions and loopholes. This sheet can be used as a reference on classwork, homework, assessments, or as a study guide. The arc/angle relationships that are included are central, inscribed, angles formed inside circle by chords or secants, angles formed outside a circle by two secants, and angles formed on a circle by a secant and a tangent.

This is a review activity of conditional statements and conjecture vocabulary. These definitions are for a high school geometry class. This "I have, who has" activity is a great activity for small classes of lower level to on level students.

Do you need a fun activity for students to practice solving quadratics by using the square root? This print and go handout has 16 problems. There are letters under each problem. Students will transfer the letters from the top to the corresponding answers on the bottom to create a 'Weird Fact'. (The weird fact for this worksheet is "Australia is wider than the moon". Students will be given a list of Cartoon Characters to see how their characters are eliminated over a 10 day period during the Last Character Standing Games. They will be given a pair of dice that will be used to determine if the character moves on to the next day or if they are eliminated.
