What is a Surd? This is a surprisingly slippery topic. As a teacher or tutor, we might have an understanding of what one is, but there are a lot of loopholes, traps and exceptions. This poster helps! We have found in our research that explanations of Surds often omit certain pieces of important information in order to generate a simpler understanding, only for the student to be told that there are some exceptions to the rules. This poster therefore aims to set a firm grounding on which to build an understanding of surds without having to navigate through the maze of exceptions and loopholes. This is a review activity of conditional statements and conjecture vocabulary. These definitions are for a high school geometry class. This "I have, who has" activity is a great activity for small classes of lower level to on level students.

This sheet can be used as a reference on classwork, homework, assessments, or as a study guide. The arc/angle relationships that are included are central, inscribed, angles formed inside circle by chords or secants, angles formed outside a circle by two secants, and angles formed on a circle by a secant and a tangent.

Cartoon Last Character Standing

Students will be given a list of Cartoon Characters to see how their characters are eliminated over a 10 day period during the Last Character Standing Games. They will be given a pair of dice that will be used to determine if the character moves on to the next day or if they are eliminated. On the back is a series of questions to ensure that students are learning about experimental probability. Very fun and there will be a lot of laughs.
