Writing about How to Solve a Problem is an important writing project that gives students the time to write about a problem they had to solve or are currently trying to solve. This product sets the foundation for having students learn about simple and advanced problem solving skills that so many students. Once they are finished with their masterpiece, they can share it with their friends and family members. This packet includes information to share with your students about why we write to solve a problem, what steps to follow when writing to solve a problem - state the problem, ask questions, come up with a list of resources, summarize the actions taken to solve the problem, and a solution which shares the decision that was made to solve the problem. This packet also includes an example showing the process that is used to write to solve a problem. Using this guide, students will write and complete a simple or complex written assignment about how to solve a problem. Vocabulary words that are emphasized in this product include: biome, climate, world biomes, tundra, permafrost, taiga, temperate forests, tropical rainforests, grasslands, desert, savanna, prairies, deforestation, and forage.
These notes can also be used as adapted notes for students who need more support. This packet includes notes on each of the 7 world biomes, maps showing where each of the biomes are located, animals that live on each biome, and facts/information about each biome, short answer comprehension questions are provided after information about each biome is presented. Towards the end of the product, students can complete the world biomes research report. Students can research an animal that lives on each biome and provide interesting facts that they learned as well. Students can then draw a picture of each biome in the a drawing section. Students can also fill in the blanks using a key to review vocabulary words.

Stress Response Adapted Notes and Activities

This product focuses on the following areas: This product provides students with information regarding stress. Students will complete a stress test and reflect on what may cause them stress. Fight/flight/freeze response is also reviewed in this product and how it relates with stress. Once students have taken the stress test, they will analyze their results. Students will work in groups and complete the packet regarding the effects of stress. Students will answer questions such as how they felt when they were feeling stressed, etc. Students will review the effects of stress charts provided that include what happens when the body is in fight or flight compared to when it is relaxed. Students will also learn about the emotional, physical, and mental effects of stress and see how they differ from one another. Students will learn what stress and stressors are when they discuss coping with stress. Healthy and unhealthy strategies to cope with stress are included in this product. Students will take time to reflect on a time when they were stressed or if they were stressed and answer questions regarding making healthy or unhealthy choices to cope with stress.
Throughout this product, students will answer comprehension questions and will also be presented with social scenarios that they may encounter where they are asked how they would feel or what they would do. An attitude survey regarding mental health that contains 10 questions is also included in this product. Students will compare their results when they are finished and will go over the correct answers.
This product can be used for 7th - 12th grade students depending on maturity and academic level.

Communication Styles Adapted Notes and Review

This product focuses on the following areas: This product provides students with skills to support effective communication skills, explore the importance of both verbal and nonverbal communication skills, identify the principles of effective communication, and learn the difference between the 4 communication styles - passive, passive aggressive, aggressive, and assertive. Students will answer short answer comprehension questions that compare the 4 communication styles. Students will learn about passive, passive aggressive, aggressive, and assertive communication, what each communicate style entails, how they differ from each other, what passive, passive aggressive, aggressive, and assertive communicators will do (body language, facial expression, etc.), the impact of each communication style in individuals is reviewed, what each communicator may believe and say to others, and tips on how to communicate with individuals who use the 4 kinds of communication styles to communicate.
This product can be used for 7th - 12th grade students depending on maturity and academic level.

United States Abbreviations Review

This product was made for students to learn about the 50 states, the spelling of each state, and each state's abbreviation. This product includes slides that are made up of the states that begin with the same letter on each slide, as these states can be confusing. For example: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, and Arkansas as well as their abbreviations so students can see the difference. Slides that show states that don't have any similarities, like Georgia, and states that have two words, like New York, are also addressed.
Each slide is provided with the state name and the abbreviation. Students can attempt to fill in the blanks of the abbreviations that were reviewed on each previous slide as well. This helps students to learn the spelling, abbreviations, and location of each state. This product can be used for students who benefit from having material adapted and it can also be used with students who are on grade level as well.

Deaf Education: Writing a Story about Hearing Loss/Deafness

In this product, the differences and similarities between writing a realistic fiction story and a nonfiction story are shared so students can decide how they want to write their story about hearing loss or deafness. They can write a realistic fiction story if they want to write about events that did not happen, but could have, or they could write a nonfiction story about their own personal experiences. Students will then pick which genre they want to use to write their story about hearing loss or deafness. Students can follow the example provided that goes through the writing process which shows the following: picking a genre, coming up with two possible story ideas their story could be about, deciding on one of the story ideas, adding more details onto their story idea, writing a rough draft, editing, and writing a final draft if required.

Deaf Education: There, Their, and They're Sentences

As our Deaf/hard of hearing/ELL students are completing written assignments, little words/parts of speech that are commonly confused when writing with words such as there, their, and they're. My students are confusing them for each other continuously. The words there, their, and they're are emphasized in this product. Students will determine if there, their, and they're belong in each sentence, circle the correct use of the word there, their, and they're in sentences, write sentences using there, their, and they're when looking at different picture scenarios, and will write there, their, or they're to complete each sentence. Students are provided space to make up their own sentences using there, their, and they're as well.
