These activities would be great for students who are practicing natural disaster, emergency and hospital vocabulary and includes the grammar concepts of preterite vs. imperfect and irregular preterite.

'El incendio' is a story about Mónica and her cat Scratchers. The two are enjoying watching television when all of a sudden, a fire breaks out! This story would also work well for any unit over disasters, heroic acts, emergencies, and contains the grammatical concept of preterite vs. imperfect!

'La sala de emergencia' is about a night in the emergency room. Jessica, the nurse, is supposed to have the night off from the emergency room, but circumstances out of her control have her heading there in an emergency! This story would also work well for any unit over disasters, emergencies, and contains the grammatical concept of preterite vs. imperfect as well as imperfect progressive!
