The Pumpkin Patch Field Trip Unit is part of my Field Trip Unit Series. The series was created with homeschoolers in mind, but can be adapted to be used in a classroom as well. Field trips are a great way to supplement learning, but often homeschoolers don’t get any background information on the location of their field trip and want to enrich their experience by expanding the learning at home before and after the trip. These units help give information and fun activities before and after the field trip.

These units are available in PreK/Kinder, Elementary, and Middle & High School levels. All Pumpkin Patch Field Trip Units follow the same outline and the parent/teacher info sheet is the same for all three so that if you have children of several ages, you can seamlessly teach them together. • Print, cut, and laminate a set of cards for each of your groups of 4-5 students.

• Print, cut, and laminate talking chips.

• Put students into groups of 4-5.

• Decide how many talking chips each student gets (this encourages participation during the dialogue and teaches students how to use social cues when deciding when to share, instead of raising a hand).

• One student draws a card from the top. That student asks the question and dialogue begins in the group. Students should have the short story handy so they can use evidence in their responses.

• When dialogue dies down, students continue taking turns drawing a card, asking questions. and having discussions.

• Students should discard the questions already asked so they don't repeat any.

Chinese New Year, also known as Lunar New Year and Spring Festival, is an annual 15-day Chinese festival that begins with the new moon that occurs between January 21 and February 20. It is an important part of Asian history and is considered the most important celebration for families and includes a week of official public holidays. The history of the Chinese New Year festival can be traced back to about 3,500 years ago.

Have your geography students explore the Chinese zodiac and learn about how the Lunar calendar culturally influences Asia and its people through this fun and thorough lesson. Nutcracker Ballet Mini Introduction Lesson

This activity features a meaningful and inclusive escape room in which students tackle 5 Language Arts skills-based puzzles about the winter holidays: Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Christmas, and Diwali!

There is no wonder why escape rooms are so popular; they are highly engaging and encourage people to work together and think creatively in order to solve different puzzles... all while trying to beat the clock! This meticulously-crafted resource features all of the materials you need to conduct a full-length Winter Holidays Escape Room for ELA. • Diwali Fun Facts: In the first task, students must read fun facts about Diwali, each demonstrating 1 of 6 comma rules. Students must match the fact with the comma rule. The code is revealed when cards are matched correctly.
