$5 - $10 11th Grade Other (Social Studies & History) Cultural Activities (by date, oldest first)

This is a great way to get students moving, collaborating and learning about Latin America Geography! This lesson/activity encourage students to develop higher-level thinking skills. The more they practice, the better their thinking strategies will become.

Students will complete a K-W-L Chart prior to the lesson while watching a suggested Intro video to peak their interest.

Students will work in teams and will rotate around (like a carousel) from one picture to another, spending 1-2 minutes at each and brainstorming the answers to the questions on each. Students will write their ideas on the chart paper at each station. Allow students add additional knowledge/terms to the chart if they wish. This will act as an extension of their learning.

Students will develop a one sentence summary of the main ideas and present it to the class. Students will be given blank maps to fill in the ideas presented as a listening/comprehension activity.

Geography influences almost everything — yes, even the clothes we wear! Take a look at geography from a different and fun perspective: How does physical and cultural geography influence what clothes we wear, the materials that are used to make the clothes, and when we wear them throughout the day, etc?
