This set of four one-page front and back, no-prep booklets includes reading comprehension with questions, a grammar quiz, a writing exercise with three activities, and a partnered writing and speaking activity.

These activities do not include rules. The activities in these booklets are not for absolute beginners. Check out my French BAGS Adjectives - Beauty, Age, Goodness, Size Ready to Use French Lesson.

Preterite vs Imperfect Spanish Story Worksheets | Hansel y Gretel

By Senorita Creativa

Do your students struggle with the preterite vs imperfect tenses? Then this amazing fairy tale activity is just what you've been looking for! This awesome resource with the classic story of Hansel y Gretel is an easy-to-use and low-prep way to practice the preterite and the imperfect, along with reading comprehension skills. Students love these stories because they are stories that they are already familiar with, making them more comprehensible, turning this tricky grammar topic from dry and boring to engaging and fun!

The familiar story of Hansel and Gretel is a perfect way to practice and assess your students’ knowledge of the preterite and imperfect tenses in Spanish with easy differentiation.

This file includes three versions of the same story:

  • Version A has the verbs already conjugated, and the students must choose between the preterite and imperfect tenses of the verb.
  • Version B also has the verbs already conjugated, but in addition to choosing the correct form of the verb, students must explain why they chose the preterite or imperfect.
  • Versions A and B also include true/false comprehension questions and students must correct the false statements.
  • Version C includes only the infinitive, so they must first decide which tense to use and then fill in the blank with the correct form of the verb.
  • Version C also includes comprehension questions to be answered in complete sentences in Spanish.

Versions A and C are both two pages long, while version B is three pages long. The three different versions make differentiation simple!

Also included in this download is:

  • a mini pictorial vocabulary list in color and black and white
  • a ten-slide mini-PowerPoint (great for pre-teaching key vocabulary)
  • a blank six-box storyboard (great for students to illustrate their comprehension of the story or summarize the story in six parts)
  • answer keys for the stories AND the comprehension questions
  • a teacher tips page.

All of these great resources are included as a zipped file. Make sure to download the preview to see everything included!

This story would make a great emergency sub plan (2 days’ worth of material), homework assignment, or formative assessment. These stories are great for Spanish 2 or as a review of the Preterite vs Imperfect tenses at the beginning of Spanish 3 or 4.

**Please Note: this is the same story as my Hansel y Gretel – Simple Present Tense story in the past.

French Futur Simple - La Routine Quotidienne Reading & Listening Comprehension

By Love Learning Languages - French Resources

Are you looking for materials to help your French students with reading and listening comprehension? This unique story and lesson will keep your students' attention, and it is ready to go and doesn't require any prep on your end.

Read and listen to a narrative story in French about Vanessa's daily routine - la routine quotidienne - in the futur simple tense. Students will practice and strengthen reading, writing, and listening skills.

Many different French verbs are used in the present tense including regular verbs, irregular verbs, and reflexive verbs. Some verbs are used with various forms of negation.

This story is available in 6 tenses and in a money-saving bundle:

  • Present Tense
  • Passé Composé
  • Imperfect
  • Futur Simple
  • Conditional
  • Futur Antérieur
  • Bundle of all 6 stories

Included:

  • MP3 audio recording
  • French only text version
  • French and English text version
  • Gap fill exercise - VERBS
  • Gap fill exercise - VOCABULARY

➯ STEP 1: Listen to the audio recording of a typical day in the life of Vanessa. See how much you can understand without reading along. It's only a little more than two minutes long, so you can listen to it a few times if necessary.

➯ STEP 2: Listen and read along at the same time with the French only version of the text.

➯ STEP 3: Read the French and English version of the text and notice how the sentence structure changes when comparing the two languages. Take note of any new vocabulary or expressions.

➯ STEP 4: Gap fill exercise #1 - Fill in the blanks with verbs as you listen once again to the audio recording. Check your work with the French only version of the text.

➯ STEP 5: Gap fill exercise #2 - Improve listening skills and comprehension of syntax while increasing your vocabulary. This time, rather than filling in the blanks with verbs, you will listen closely to all of the other words and write what's missing in the exercise. Check your work with the French only version of the text.

Ready to use French stories save loads of time when you unexpectedly need to miss a day and provide substitute material.

My French stories in 6 tenses are perfect for emergency sub plans that do not require advanced preparation or elaborate instructions. Just print the stories and supplementary materials and you’ll have a fun exercise ready for your students when you can't be there.

Check out my Build Your Own French Bundle option. Select resources from my store, and if they total $20 or more I'll quickly create a special order bundle for you at 20% off. No sale items or other already discounted bundles can be included.

French Imperative - Exercise - Reformulating Sentences

By Love Learning Languages - French Resources

French Imperative - Exercise - Reformulating Sentences - Distance Learning

The following exercise is part of my comprehensive imperative mood lesson:

Written exercise - Reformulate 20 French sentences and transform them into imperative commands. A 14 minute audio file is included in which I walk students through the exercise in great detail and provide explanations just as you would in a classroom setting. This can be especially helpful if students are distance learning and need further help with the written work. You may wish to listen to my explanations and use some of my ideas when explaining the work yourself.

Check out my comprehensive lesson + resources for teaching the imperative with and without pronouns and negation:

This is a lesson on how to make affirmative and negative commands in French both with and without pronouns. Students will learn that when they want to use double pronouns with the imperative, a few things change. The following resources are available individually or as a money saving bundle. You may choose to teach this lesson yourself or use my free 41 minute video lesson if you have to be absent, want to use it for distance learning, or if you have a sub who doesn't speak French. I have created all of the following resources to make a comprehensive lesson plan that will help students practice and master the French imperative.

Teacher and Student Instructions:

STEP 1 ➯ Download the 9 page lesson and follow it closely while teaching how to use pronouns with the imperative. The lesson includes all of the essential rules beginning with the formation of the imperative and finishing with affirmative and negative commands with pronouns and double pronouns. To keep your students on their toes as you teach, move ahead to STEP 2 before distributing a copy of the lesson for them to add to their French folder.

STEP 2 ➯ Download the 9 page cours and distribute a copy to your students. They can use it to follow along and take notes while listening to you teach the lesson. There are spaces for them to fill in missing information that they will learn as you explain everything. Taking their own notes will help them retain the new information.

STEP 3 ➯ Recorded listening comprehension exercise - TU. Distribute the worksheet and students should be ready to write as they are led through an audio exercise. Students will hear a sentence being read beginning with _Tu veux...._ Listen carefully for the verb being used, and restate the sentence using the imperative. In this exercise, use the TU form every time, and no pronouns are used. Answer key included.

STEP 4 ➯ Recorded listening comprehension exercise - VOUS. Distribute the worksheet and students should be ready to write as they are led through an audio exercise. Students will hear a sentence being read beginning with _Vous voulez...._ Listen carefully for the verb being used, and restate the sentence using the imperative. In this exercise, use the VOUS form every time, and no pronouns are used. Answer key included.

STEP 5 ➯ Recorded listening comprehension exercise - NOUS. Distribute the worksheet and students should be ready to write as they are led through an audio exercise. Students will hear a sentence being read beginning with _Nous voulons...._ Listen carefully for the verb being used, and restate the sentence using the imperative. In this exercise, use the NOUS form every time, and no pronouns are used. Answer key included.

STEP 6 ➯ Written translation exercise - English to French - This exercise is meant to be simple and really focuses on what was taught in the lesson. A 5 minute audio file is included in which I walk students through the exercise and provide explanations just as you would in a classroom setting. This can be especially helpful if students are distance learning and need further help with the written work. You may wish to listen to my explanations and use some of my ideas when explaining the work yourself.

STEP 7 ➯ Written translation exercise - English to French - This exercise is for advanced learners or for those working at a higher level. This exercise will provide a challenge! It includes the imperative with pronouns and double pronouns with and without negation as well as other advanced level grammatical structures. A 9 minute audio file is included in which I walk students through the exercise and provide explanations just as you would in a classroom setting. This can be especially helpful if students are distance learning and need further help with the written work. You may wish to listen to my explanations and use some of my ideas when explaining the work yourself.

STEP 8 ➯ Written exercise - Reformulate French sentences and transform them into imperative commands. A 14 minute audio file is included in which I walk students through the exercise and provide explanations just as you would in a classroom setting. This can be especially helpful if students are distance learning and need further help with the written work. You may wish to listen to my explanations and use some of my ideas when explaining the work yourself.

STEP 9 ➯ Written exercise - Give commands using double pronouns. An 11 minute audio file is included in which I walk students through the exercise and provide explanations just as you would in a classroom setting. This can be especially helpful if students are distance learning and need further help with the written work. You may wish to listen to my explanations and use some of my ideas when explaining the work yourself.

STEP 10 ➯ 50 practice cards. This set of cards will help students truly master the French imperative with and without pronouns and negation. All cards are numbered, and there's a numbered answer key. I'm including 3 PDF versions to fit your teaching needs: 1 per page with answers shown on every other slide, 1 per page with no answers (refer to numbered key), 4 per page with no answers to print and cut out.

Check out my new Build Your Own French Bundle option. Select resources from my store, and if they total $20 or more I'll quickly create a special order bundle for you at 20% off. No sale items or other already discounted bundles can be included.

French Definite, Indefinite, Partitive Articles - Read, Write, Listen, Speak

By Love Learning Languages - French Resources

Do you find it nearly impossible to find French grammar based reading, writing, speaking, and listening activities?  The focus on specific grammar themes seems to get pushed aside when you want to incorporate all of the other skills.  This is a set of four booklets based on French definite, indefinite, and partitive articles

When you’re teaching articles, you may not want everything you do to be absolutely grammar based, because that can become boring.

This set of four one-page front and back, no-prep booklets includes reading comprehension with questions, a grammar quiz, a writing exercise with three activities, and a partnered writing and speaking activity.

These activities are not meant for teaching articles. They do not include rules. The activities in these booklets are not for absolute beginners.

These activities are meant to provide your students with an opportunity for a challenging review of this grammar topic.

All of the booklets are based on mastering French definite, indefinite, and partitive articles.

Once you’ve taught the rules, it’s time to have some fun with articles!

This resource includes the following:

You’ll notice that the different booklets reach into reading, writing, speaking, and listening, while still incorporating and focusing on French definite, indefinite, and partitive articles.

ALWAYS PREPARED…

These booklets are one of my favorite "go to" resources when I want to get my students reading, writing, listening, and speaking to each other while focusing on specific grammar themes that require a lot of practice.  There's something about changing up the routine that is very motivating to students.

ALWAYS PREPARED…

You will be able to pull out this set of booklets again and again, year after year, as you teach and reteach French grammar topics.  There are 100 sets of booklets in this series, and it's never a bad idea to pull out a random stack even with your more advanced students to give them a solid review of certain things they may have forgotten.

ALWAYS PREPARED…

These no-prep booklets can easily carry you through your whole career as a French teacher, and they'll save you so much time.  I like to have baskets of these booklets ready to pull out and go at the drop of a hat.  How about never needing to prepare for a sub on days when you can't be there?

➯ STEP 3: Read the French and English version of the text and notice how the sentence structure changes when comparing the two languages. Take note of any new vocabulary or expressions.
