I envisaged this to be a September week 1 internet activity. It will give students an opportunity to think about how other people perceive them. It could also be used as a lesson in how to search Google effectively or used as a dictionary / thesaurus activity, where students have to find descriptive words in order to search for appropriate pictures on Google Images.

These have been doing the rounds on FaceBook and email recently. You may have received posters / postcards entitled "Teachers...." or "Moms..." and then under the title are a series of photos with captions like;

Each caption is accompanied by an image of what that person thinks about the other person or group of people.

The sample here is of the "Teacher..." postcard. This is NOT what I am selling. I am selling a similar template entitled, "Students..." It is laid out the same as the teacher one with the same titles (the word teacher has been replaced with student), however, the pictures are missing. Students must search Google Images for appropriate pictures that characterize themselves. The photo titles are as follows;

McDonald's is a familiar place for many travelers visiting France. But it's not identical to the American version. Read about the differences between them and what allowed McDonald's to succeed in the land of gourmet food and 5-course meals - while Burger King failed.

Even if the movie is in English, there are lots of follow up activities you can do in French with your students. This is an exercise to accompany a report by a Figaro journalist, given in French (of course!). There is a link to the YouTube video, and a series of questions to be answered while watching & listening. There are ten multiple choice questions, and five more open-ended questions. Authentic listening activities for Spanish class can be so hard to find!  We want our students to practice their listening skills but we don’t want to spend an hour searching for a good video!  This YouTube video is about winter in Chile.  A young person takes us around his city and explains what winter is like there.  To check comprehension, students will answer questions as they watch. Students will make comparisons and discover similarities and differences between their own experience and the speaker’s experience in Chile.   An answer key is also included!

Before we begin to see how engineering and technology affect our lives on a daily basis, let’s look at what is encompassed under the CTAE (Career, Technical and Agricultural Education) umbrella. We are going to do this by looking at a CTAE Pathway at the college level vs. a Math/Science Pathway at the college level. We are going to look at Kennesaw State University’s programs in several of these categories. Since KSU’s merger with Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Technology, this is a great place to look at several college options in each of these pathways.

You're about to start a Robotics Unit and you're looking for an informative and FUN way to introduce students to robots. THis Web Quest gives them the history of robots, looks at different types of robots and includes thought provoking video links.

They'll browse the websites of world leaders in robots, both humanoid and manufacturing. They'll complete charts and tables. They'll answer critical thinking questions.
