Creating a positive environment for students is a top priority, but it can be difficult when individuals lack an awareness of the impact of their words towards others, especially when it does not affect them in the same way. This activity brings awareness and a better understanding, while also increasing empathy and care toward others. I also like to remind students that we cannot control what other people chose to say and do, though we can take time to educate and create awareness, especially when something they are saying or doing is impacting us. This lesson can be customized to fit whatever statements would be most beneficial in recognizing within your school.

Though we wish otherwise, grief is a topic that cannot always be avoided, even at a young age. This curriculum offers materials for SIX WEEKS of meetings, discussions, and activities. This curriculum is designed to fit the needs of middle school students (grades 5-8), though it can easily be tailored or adjusted to fit many different age ranges. Student standards met are included in each lesson, as well as week-by-week lesson plans and a follow up survey to conclude. Questions? Ask away.

This "Think Before You Speak" activity puts a focus on taking time to reflect and think before speaking to others. In this interactive activity, students are put into teams, where they are helping one another guess a specific word while also avoiding the guess of another word. Students must focus and carefully select the words in which they are using to be helpful - a social skill that we all utilize daily (even if we do not realize it!) This activity is a great resource to bring this skill to life and take time to reflect and connect - while having a little fun in doing so! Everything you need for this activity is included in the digital download, including reflection discussion questions, so once you purchase, you are ready for your next classroom lesson! *A note is included on materials that may be helpful for the activity, but are not necessary when fully utilizing the activity!*

This resource is great for teenagers and young people who want to understand and address changes. The Stages of Change model is frequently used in drug and alcohol work which can be helpful to support teenagers and young people who want to understand and address changes. With that said, any type of change that they would like to be addressed can be explored using this template.

This Activity introduces the stages of change model with clear explanations of the various stages. The activity includes providing a step by step template which scaffolds the individual through the various stages for a particular change that they would like to address.

It can be difficult for teens in today’s world to make healthy decisions, which is why effective drug education in a clear, clinical way is imperative. This portfolio project provides a wealth of knowledge about the risks associated with drug use, including legal limits for alcohol consumption. It gives teens strategies to make good decisions and identify potential consequences. Plus, it comes with self-reflection worksheets so they can review what they learned along the way!

This curriculum teaches essential skills that your teen can use in their everyday lives to make smart choices. Through informative lectures, individual tasks, class exercises, and more, your students are sure to gain valuable insight on making informed decisions when facing peer pressures or potentially dangerous risks. This project is great for health classes, school counselors, or school psychologists.

The Alcohol and Drugs Informative Portfolio Project is an informative way for teens to learn important lessons created in a way that teens won't mind completing. Help your students make healthy, informed decisions with this portfolio project!

This cathartic intervention has been designed to support teenagers and adults to create their own “Therapeutic Doll” or “Healing Doll” which helps provide insight and a connection to their core sense of self. Individuals are then asked to reflect on the process by examining the questions provided.

Therapeutic doll making is a sensorimotor therapeutic approach which helps support individuals who have experienced trauma such as sexual abuse, physical assault, domestic violence as well as explore interpersonal relationships.

This resource includes a list of questions for the individual to reflect on post activity as well as a diary entry page for them to record their thoughts.

MATERIALS NEEDED

Each student will require one blank calico doll. These can be purchased at craft stores. Additionally, there should be a wide range of craft materials to ensure that the students have a range of options to use when creating their therapeutic doll.

Individuals may also even want to bring in some personal items that they want to use to decorate their doll. Should you not be able to obtain blank calico dolls then a one page body outline is included in this resource so that students can decorate these instead. This is not ideal and not the intended purpose of this intervention and should be used as a last resort only.

Coping strategies and skills are behavioural reactions that an individual utilizes to cope, deal and adapt with difficult situations. Coping strategies come in many forms – some might be helpful, and some are unhelpful.

This resource has been developed for teenage students to brainstorm and reflect on some risky behaviours and consider the negative and positives of the situation. This resource includes blank templates at the end of the resource for students to complete their own brainstorming maps.

This resource includes considering the behaviours: unprotected sex, meeting up with strangers, gambling, prescribed medication, destroying property and breaking good behaviour bond. Este recurso incluye 7 lentes diferentes que alientan al estudiante a explorar una situación o problema desde cada uno de estos lentes. Estos incluyen mirar una situación desde varios lentes, incluidos los emocionales, intuitivos, creativos, pesimistas, reactivos, de resolución de problemas y analíticos.

Therapeutic Intervention for Teenagers to explore situations and decisions from a number of different perspectives. This resource encourages students to move outside their default thinking style and helps them self-reflect and move towards a more rounded and robust viewpoint. This is a great resource for teenagers with anger management, conflict resolution, limited personal insight and emotional regulation difficulties. Great to use in an individual, small or large group setting. This resource is versitile and can be utilised in many ways.

Looking at things from a different perspective are a vital life skill. This resource includes 7 different glasses which encourages the student to explore a situation or problem from each of these lens. These include looking at a situation from various lenses including emotional, intuitive, creative, pessimistic, reactive, problem solving and analytic.

The seven types of glasses include: Optimistic Glasses, Pessimistic Glasses, Problem Solving Glasses, Reactive Glasses, Reactive Glasses, Analytic Glasses, Flying High Glasses and Growth Mindset Glasses.

This resource will encourage students to look at the positives and negatives of each of the different perspectives.

NOTE: This resource does not include hypothetical situations or decisions as it is encouraged to use day to day situations that arise organically to make the reflective practice more important and powerful.
