Who wouldn’t want to kick off learning the great outdoors with this fun Mountain Range Lesson and Bingo Game?

Kick off the school year with fun and learning through this World Mountain Identification Lesson and Bingo Game! It’s a fantastic way to break the ice and **get everyone engaged **right from day one, working cooperatively through physical geography of the world's greatest mountain ranges task cards, while completing a corresponding map activity.

As students** familiarize themselves with the world's mountain ranges**, they’ll learn about **physical landform geography **and foster teamwork as they work together to fill their Bingo cards. Tens of thousands of people have protested on the streets to make their voices heard about all kinds of issues that students care about including racism, inequality, policing, discrimination, etc. Protests have spread across the nation and seem to rival the historic demonstrations of the civil rights movement. It is important for us to bring these topics into our classrooms—because students want to be part of the conversation and share their thoughts and feelings about the very issues that affect them - including racism.

This resource features 48 questions related to racism that can be used as writing prompts, discussion/debate questions, or both! These questions encourage students to think deeply about racism, the root cause of it, their experiences with it, how it should be confronted and addressed, what drives silence, the role media plays - AND SO MUCH MORE! These questions can spark some deep conversations among students. Without a doubt, these questions give students an opportunity to share their feelings and thoughts about the racism they have witnessed in their lives.

Not only are these geography warm-up activity bell ringers for the beginning of class great transitions to start class and get students mentally ready for class, but it's also a great way to work in time for state test prep activities without all the extra work**.** Many of the social studies test questions require students to read, examine, and analyze maps, charts, graphs, etc. I have used bell ringers for years and I have seen an increase in students' abilities to read maps, graphs, and charts. It's worth your time and theirs!

This second set of bell ringers ask students to use their class atlases to read maps, graphs, and charts such as map projections, climate maps, time zone maps, population pyramids, and more. Although they are specified for the first six weeks, they can be used at any time throughout the year. The atlas used for reference is the Rand McNally 6th Edition found on Amazon for $15 found here. But many atlases can be used and are more affordable here. If you use another atlas, simply modify each slide to reference the map or page in the atlas you are using. The questions can remain the same.

Many educators struggle with the task of figuring out how to start class each day or how to transition from concept to concept. Due to nature of switching class to class, students often struggle to mentally prepare to transition to a different subject. A popular solution to these problems is the idea of the beginning of the class warm-up bellringers. These start-of-class activities benefit both students and teachers.

A bell ringer, often referred to as a warm-up activity or a do-now, is a short exercise or prompt given to students at the beginning of class. These activities are designed to capture students' attention, activate prior knowledge, and set the tone for the rest of the lesson.

Need a great world geography activity for your continent of Africa study? These 24 Africa Task Cards are a great way to introduce the unit by having students work in cooperative groups centers or individually to read the task card questions and research the answers to each task card question as if it were a scavenger hunt. These may also be used at the end of the Africa Continent unit to evaluate what students gained during the unit. Display these task cards throughout the room and have students work on a timed rotation exploring the different aspects of Africa such as physical, political, cultural, and economic characteristics. This a great, fun way to introduce and understand the causes and consequences, as well as the differences between immigration, emigration, & migration— Incorporates music and allows interaction through cooperative groups!

Students will enjoy listening to and analyzing a migration song. Incorporating music into the classroom increases understanding and interest in the subject—acts as a motivating factor. Students will then move into cooperative groups and will rotate stations where they will read and complete 6 different task cards. They will begin with a quick overview of American migration and move to migration trends and policies and end with the effects of immigration on the country of origin as well as the receiving country.

OBJECTIVE:

· The learner will comprehend the causes and effects on the receiving country and the country of origin.

· The learner will explore immigration laws throughout the world.

· The learner will understand historical migration trends throughout history.

· The learner will interpret and analyze the migration song.

This third set of bell ringers asks students to use their class atlases to read maps, graphs, and charts such as map projections, climate maps, time zone maps, population pyramids, and more. Although they are specified for the first six weeks, they can be used at any time throughout the year. The atlas used for reference is the Rand McNally 6th Edition found on Amazon for $15 found here. But many atlases can be used and are more affordable here. If you use another atlas, simply modify each slide to reference the map or page in the atlas you are using. The questions can remain the same.
