Mother's Day Nonfiction Texts With STEM Challenge and Poetry

This versatile resource is good for brightening someone's day on many occasions; Mother's Day and it is perfect for an end of the year "thank you!" Is there a special in your school you want to thank? Personally, I have the students brainstorm for all of the people that work for the school. Everyone takes one person and we brighten their day! We thank bus drivers, cafeteria workers, custodians, support staff, the principal, etc.
Your students will have lots of fun with this STEM challenge. First, they will read about six types of flowers. They will learn the characteristics of each flower, along with the meaning and what they symbolize. This is the perfect opportunity to talk about the job of the flower as well as various character traits. After reading, students will choose one flower to make given a set of guidelines. One of these guidelines is that the stem of the flower must be able to hold a letter or poem. Writing paper, directions for writing a diamante poem, and paper for the final copy of student's poetry are included.

Solar Eclipses Adapted Notes and Review

This product includes vocabulary, notes, and review for students that are learning about the 2024 Solar Eclipse.
This product on solar eclipses covers the following: Students will learn what a solar eclipse is, the three main eclipses that will be covered include - total solar eclipse, partial solar eclipse, and annular eclipse and how they are different from one another, cosmic coincidences and how eclipses are unplanned, facts about the Sun and Moon and how the Sun is larger than the Moon and how it looks smaller when it is farther away, what happens to the sky during a solar eclipse, what should be worn during a solar eclipse - solar viewers, how it is never safe to look at the sun, how often solar eclipses happen, when the last total solar eclipse was in the United States, Europe, and Spain for comparison, a map that shows the last total solar eclipse that the United States experienced, and a map that shows where the total solar eclipse will cover on April 8th, 2024. A review that includes facts about the Sun, Moon, Earth, and planets is included in this product.
Throughout the product, students will answer comprehension questions, fill in the blank questions when provided with a key, multiple choice questions, and will label diagrams to ensure comprehension as they are learning about the types of eclipses and the planets.
At the end of this product, students will have the opportunity to draw a picture of a total solar eclipse and will label the sun, moon, and Earth.

Electrical Energy Adapted Notes and Review

In this product, students will learn about electrical energy. In the beginning of the product, matter is reviewed and how matter can be seen in three different forms - solid, liquid, and gas. Students will then review how matter changes, what matter is made up of - atoms, and what makes up atoms, how electricity comes from movement of electrons among atoms of the matter. Students will learn about electricity and how we are reminded how important it is when the power is off. Students will review the kinds of electricity that is used at home, the particles of matter and how they carry a positive or a negative electric charge. Students will learn how the flow of charged particles is an electric current, how the electric currents flow through a path called an electric circuit, how electric currents can only flow through circuits that are complete, and how electric currents wont flow through incomplete circuits. Students will also learn that when a lamp is unplugged, there is a gap in the circuit and the only way to complete the circuit is to plug the electrical cord into an outlet. Students will learn the different forms of energy - heat, sound, light, mechanical, and chemical. They will learn that electrical energy can change into the other forms of energy except for chemical energy. Examples of each change will be provided between the different forms of energy will be provided. Students will then learn how electrical signals are found in the body - the heart and the brain and what they do, they will also learn how these organs get electrical energy, and students will also learn about how electrical currents from outside of the body are very dangerous and what they should do to avoid these dangers. Throughout the product, students will be asked comprehension questions that include short answer and multiple choice to ensure comprehension.
