~ Stink Solar System Superhero is a wonderful book to reinforce a solar system/planet study. Students will use their background knowledge about our solar system and gain new understandings about our planets. This literature unit is a great guided reading group study. ~Questions are based on Bloom’s Taxonomy and use higher level thinking skills. Many questions also elicit story recall responses. ~Included in the unit: -comprehension questions for each chapter -word work activity for each chapter ~ I use this unit with one of my guided reading groups. The unit will last about a week or two. Sometimes the guided reading groups set their own expectations/assignments for completing their books. ~ Stink Solar System Superhero is an AR level 3.4 book.

While working with my own reading group I discovered that their isn't much out their for response that can be tailored to ANY fiction book. These 8 graphic organizers are made to work with any fiction book. Great for a book club or an extension group.

A Book Study for DOG MAN 7 - For Whom the Ball Rolls by Dav Pilkey.

Comprehension questions and activities for each chapter. Students will cover many of the Grades 2, 3 and 4 ELA Common Core State Standards in context.

The Dog Man units have been planned so that over the course of all the books, students will become familiar with and well-practised in using comprehension strategies to make meaning from text.

This unit is packed with Common Core aligned activities. This is a 50 page literacy unit designed to promote thinking and comprehension.

An answer key is included.

This Unit can be followed chapter by chapter, with no extra preparation or planning required by the teacher. The responses in the unit have been planned and arranged so that your students will practise a wide range of comprehension strategies in context.

With comprehension questions and activities for each chapter, students will cover many of the Grades 2, 3 and 4 ELA Common Core State Standards in context.

This unit is packed with Common Core aligned activities and includes printable and digital versions.

The Unit can be followed chapter by chapter, with no extra preparation or planning required by the teacher.

The responses in the unit have been planned and arranged so that your students will practise a wide range of comprehension strategies in context. It has been designed to promote thinking and comprehension. Tasks can be completed independently, collaboratively or alongside a teacher. The unit has been planned so that over the course of the book, students will become familiar with and well-practised in using comprehension strategies to make meaning from text.

• Literacy Skills - sequencing, cause and effect, main idea and events, compare and contrast, point of view, venn diagrams, writing, vocabulary work.

• Story elements - character descriptions, character analysis, character emotions, character challenges, setting, plot.

• Book response - creative responses, written responses.

All activities have been designed with student engagement at the forefront. In responding to the book, students will be required to think both within and beyond the text. Children learn best when they are having fun! Even better that they are learning the love of books at the same time!
